Okay, I just installed my boss' computer and it's customized or something. When I log on the administrator account, I don't have the "RUN" option in the start menu, and I can't access "My Computer" or get into any of the windows folders or anything. All there is on the desktop is Internet Explorer, a Pinball game, and an icon for setting up dial up, which we don't need since we got cable today, but if I log on the guest account, I can get into all that stuff I need, but I can't change anything since I'm not under administrator. My prognosis is that I need to restart the OS with a start up disk (which I don't have...) Is there anyway to restart the computer to default settings to where I can get everything I need under administrator, or do I need the start up disk? HELP!!

Is this a corporate computer or one that you bought from a store?


Sounds like you have a policy package associated to the admin account.

Have you tried creating a second admin account with no policy packages?
THis is a Windows Vista or XP that you're speaking of right?

You can go to start , control panel, user accounts and create one there.
Then make sure you place them in the administrators group.

Then you can use that new account from now on.
I normally have 2 accounts in XP at least at admin level in case one goes south.
