I'm finally taking up Kitesurfing!!! ~woot~ 
Shit, the kits are expensive. It's actually will cost me more for the kitesurfing kit than it did for my kayak and related gear. 
But I fucking love being out on the water, and this is totally going to keep my occupied later this summer for sure!!! 
For those of you unfamiliar with kiteboarding/kitesurfing, its alot like windsurfing on a board, but instead of a sale attached to your board, you basically are being dragged by a large kite shaped alot like a parachute. The board is also relatively short allowing for maximum motion and range. I've already met with a trainer who says he's gonna show me the ropes, etc. etc. :excite:, and has a nice ass too boot.
Apparently the Tampa bay area has a lot of kite surfing enthusiast so it's easy to meetup with folks and practice. Don't get me wrong--I haven't given up on kayaking. I still love being out on the water, whether it's for fast moving fun, relaxation, or just to be out in nature. I'm so damned excited. This summer is gonna shape up to be a crazy one! | |

The cool part is that you go as fast as the wind goes, so if its 15-20 mpr, it's a decent clip for a water sport. It's not rare to see kitesurfers jump 10 to 15 feet up in the air using the momentum from their kites. It's hawt.

kitesurfing sounds like it would be my thing. I loved knee boarding when I was a kid. Everyone in the boat would get pissed off cause I wouldn't let go or fall off for nothing so they would be as rough as possible to get me to fall off. | |
