I can't even sit on the bowl for a long shit without the seat becoming uncomfortable. Did she get sores (like bed sores when someone doesn't move for a long time)? WTF?? This is too weird & sad...
I was just about to say:hmm:...wouldn't she have gotten those puss-filled sores like sick people do when they're bed-ridden? And imagine the bacteria that would have set in from her sitting on a toilet for 2 years...without rising even ONCE? and the stench coming from where they live would have (or should have) been an automatic tip off to anybody within the vicinity of their place that something was off...I don't know..I'm feeling kinds skeptical about this story

Although I meant what I posted, at the same time, I don't want to come across as insensitive to this because it could very well be a mental issue. With the woman AND her boyfriend. If indeed the woman wasn't physically able to stand, then her boyfriend or SOMEONE should have helped her to do so. But if that wasn't the case, then, wow...very unfortunate. This story's weird. If they're both mentally ill (which is a reasonable explanation -- it's obvious she is), who paid the rent or mortgage?
I'm inclined to believe the time frame, given the mention of skin growing around it, as well as atrophied legs. The boyfriend is conceivably reasonably normal, given the authorities' consideration of charging him. And, again, he could communicate and reason well enough to ask her to leave his bathroom, communicate with emergency personnel and authorities. And, what prompted him to finally call? Something's wrong? After two years? Could be a health crisis or condition. Two years. I mean, people can stink after two days... So little in this story makes sense. If it weren't for the atrophy and skin stuff, I wouldn't buy it. I hate stories like this. Human suffering thriving through neglect. I hate that.

I just stared at the title in disbelief and I finally read the story and I still think it is mind boggling. I definitely thought mental illness right away. I hope now they can both get some help.

I guess not
http://ap.google.com/arti...wD8VC91U00 McFarren told the AP that he wasn't to blame, and that it was solely Babcock's choice to remain in the bathroom. "She is an adult; she made her own decision. It was my fault I should have gotten help for her sooner; I admit that. But after a while, you kind of get used to it," McFarren said. Although authorities said they think Babcock was in the bathroom for two years, McFarren said he wasn't certain how long she stayed there. He said she had a phobia about leaving the room because of childhood beatings. "It just kind of happened one day. She went in and had been in there a little while, the next time it was a little longer. Then she got it in her head she was going to stay — like it was a safe place for her," McFarren said. But McFarren said Babcock moved around in the bathroom during that time, bathed and changed into the clothes he brought her. He said they conversed and had an otherwise normal relationship — except that it all happened in the bathroom. McFarren, who works at an antique store, said he has been taking care of Babcock for the 16 years they have lived together. McFarren called police on Feb. 27 to report that "there was something wrong with his girlfriend," Whipple said. Police found Babcock clothed and sitting on the toilet, her sweat pants down to her mid-thigh. She was "somewhat disoriented," and her legs looked as if they had atrophied, Whipple said. "She said that she didn't need any help, that she was OK and did not want to leave," he said. She was reported in fair condition at a hospital in Wichita, about 150 miles southeast of Ness City. Whipple said she refused to cooperate with medical providers or law enforcement investigators. McFarren said that his girlfriend has an infection in her legs that has damaged her nerves, and that she has no feeling in her legs. She may wind up in a wheelchair, he said. Authorities said they did not know whether she was mentally or physically disabled. The case has been the buzz of Ness City, said James Ellis, a neighbor. "I don't think anybody can make any sense out of it," he said. Ellis said he had known the woman since she was a child but that he had not seen her for at least six years. He said she had a tough childhood after her mother died at a young age and apparently was usually kept inside the house as she grew up. At one time the woman worked for a long-term care facility, he said, but he did not know what kind of work she did there. "It really doesn't surprise me," Ellis said. "What surprises me is somebody wasn't called in a bit earlier." Under certain circumstances, urgent circumstances, desperate circumstances, profanity provides a relief denied even to prayer.

Dang...the lady on the couch was only 40 years old
The toilet woman is 35 years old....talk about just giving up and letting things go.... Hmmmmm...I think the woman on the toilet was in a better place...the woman on the couch had to use the bathroom on herself. As for the woman on the toilet...what the hell possessed her to sit on somebody else's toilet for 2 years? Heck, when we were on boyfriend/girlfriend status, I didn't even in my man's car, forget take a in his toilet. Seriously, nobody--family or friends were ever looking for her? Dang! I mean...did her hips pop out of joint when she sat and she was too embarassed to tell her boyfriend, so she thought it better to fuse her tail to the seat instead? And WHY would he be okay with this...since obviously, if she was truly stuck, anything other than oral sex would have been impossible. And...if she couldn't get up, that means she never wiped her azzz....so the stench had to be exponential booty funk.....thats just nasty Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

Mental issue or not, it just goes to show how fucked up some people's lives are. And, keep in mind that these are only the ones we hear about. I'm sure there are things going on in this world that are even crazier than this. If I were the boyfriend....I would've pulled her crazy ass off that toilet on the first day. He's as nuts as she is IMO.
