Fatal Windows XP CRASH! HELP!!

So I was downloding a bootleg which I had no damn bid'niss liek Prince said, and guess what!?!?

My computer froze and crashed.

I shut it down. Turn it back on it starts the Windows XP loading screen but the blue error "stop windows has shut down unexpectedly..." screen comes on and shuts down automatically again..then restarts itself.

It just keeps on doing this until I have to shut it off.

I tried to put in the Windows XP cd to just re-vamp my whole computer, but then THAT gets stuck too.

Anything I can do?

Can you boot the OS in XP straight from the CD like you can in certain blends of Linux? confuse

Sounds like your hard drive either went in the crapper, or the OS is needing to do a checksum and it fails.

If you leave your computer off for 10 minutes or more, then boot it up, does it behave differently?

And doe it just shut off automatically after a while? I had something similar happen and it was related to the fact that the CPU fan died, so the chip was overheating.

I'm starting to lose my touch with Windows though. I really need to by another windows system just to keep up with all the problems they have so I can stay up to date. lol

I tried to boot it from the cd, but it stops after it loads everything..it doesnt actually does the steps to PUT anyhting on the drive, or take anything off.

What happens is it just keeps on trying to resart itself and it fails and keeps on trying over and over.

Do you have ghost?

one thing you could try if you have Ghost is to boot from the ghost disk, make an image of your current system.

Then just reinstall your os, and pull the files you need from your ghost image.

I really don't know what's causing your problem.

Do you at least get to the Windows portion of the bootup, past the Black/white C-MOS portion?

F8 during the boot process

'boot from last known good settings'

if that doesn't work, try to get your hands on a linux live cd that supports NTFS to get the files that you need and install from scratch.

Ghost is an imaging program that allows you to rip your complete system to a file. You can accomplish the same with Acronis (which provides a free version I think) or if you are able to hook up your disk to a Linux system, you can take
an image with the build-in dd command.
