You absolutely must stop by Mamma Luanne's BBQ and Rib Shack.

Tuesdays are bottomless plate days--all you can eat pork slabs and chops served greesy with garlic smashed potatoes. drool

wait. Are we talking about Naples, Florida? confuse

Naples hosts a wealth of historical museums and some of the most important in the country. The Naples National Archaeological Museum is one of the main museums, considered one of the most important for Roman Empire artifacts in the world.
It also hosts many of the ruins unearthed at Pompeii and Herculaneum, as well as some artifacts from the Greek and Renaissance periods.

Dutch men make me silly,
Amsterdam is on my agenda,
not so much italy,
though nicer than the good witch, Glenda,
the former is where I find my Huey,

And when I step through your streets,
And find myself there,
My mission will be complete,
When I kiss you deeply and pinch your derriere,
and you.... can kiss me anywhere redface

Napoli is the true cultural heart of Italia...

Forget about Roma, Milano, and Venice... The real passion is in Napoli, and great food 2.

Some of the World's greatest music, singers, food, and film have roots in Napoli.

Thanks Dan. We are meeting up with a good friend and previous co-worker from Florida. Her husband booked a 2 week holiday in Italy for her Christmas present.
It will be great to see them again. biggrin
Two familiar faces in a foreign country..that should be fun. woot!

Oh and I will remain zipped about the Italian men. I used to have a weakness for the tall, dark and handsome Italian type.

Also forgot 2 mention that Napoli was the first city 2 rise against the German occupation during WWII, which destroyed much of Napoli's rich cultural past.

Where do I start guys. We should really have a chat!!!

This city oozes a chilled vibe and if you look past the Camorra (Naples Mafia) the tired and dishevelled look of the place and the current refuse issue, the lazy police the slow transport, bizarre opening times of shops and bars, the sea but no beach, the hoards of American and Japanese tourists then it takes on a certain charm.

It’s like a very busy village.

I love Naples in small doses, there is too much for just a couple of days and what to do depends on where you are staying and how far you want to travel.

Surrounding – if you have a car – Herculaneum and Pompeii are a must, stop off and hike up Vesuvius, the view from the top is amazing. Amalfi Coast, Sorrento, Positano, Mesino. Catch a ferry to Capri or Ischia.

In Town – take a walk buy the marina, castel d’ovo, or nearby castel Nouvo and piazza del duomo – the old palace of the royal family. Museo Archeologico has a lot of stuff from Pompeii including a rather intresting Roman pornography wing – if you can get in.

I wish we could give you the tour (but we are there while you are otehrwise engaged), we just wander now. Take a page out of the local book, take it easy. Wander around, eat and drink – Montepulciano, or local Granianico or Aglianico (Phil thumbs up!) . Stick to local food - the home of pizza you can’t really go wrong. Pasta and seafood – HAVE spaghetti al vongole (your life will be forever changed)

I will get some info on restaurant names from the wife - I always eat so well when we go – I don’t care what the place is called I am too busy eating.

Any Italians please forgive my spelling I am doing this off the top of my head.

Thanks Steve. I think we will still be recuperating from two weeks away prior to our weekend to Naples so we will probably chill out and visit with my friends.
I cannot wait to eat some local food.
I would love to hike up Vesuvius mushy

Naples would be the one Italian city to avoid.....don't wear your jewels and shit.....all is mob-invested there, the Camorra being one of Italy's most brutal mob-clans.....they also don't fear undertaking tourists.....

I don't like Naples at all!

Sorry!

Well I will make sure I keep my precious jewels at home. We are just going to meet up with my friends. I have heard some wonderful things about Naples so I guess it depends on where you go and what you do there.
I just want to catch up with my friends, celebrate and share pics from our trip to Sri Lanka and Maldives, drink wine and eat, see a few beautiful sites.
It was a cheap trip so no big lose really, as long as I see my friends.
