I found this hmmm

Gingalope smoothie
1. Take a cantaloupe peel and de-seed.
2. Cut into pieces, about 1"-2". cut a small piece of fresh ginger root, about 1" by 1" add these into a blender or food processor and blend.

I have lost about 10 lbs since Jan just by eating way more fruits and veggies but I want to bump that up a notch nod

If you can do RAW 3 or 4 days a week you'll be amazed.

Seriously, go to amazon and buy a copy of Matt Amdsend's recipe book "RAWvolution".
His nutloaf recipe is amazing. The hamburger (nutloaf burger) he makes is absoltely delicious.

And the deserts are great.

and being living and raw, they are all good for you.

I am going to try for 2-3 days a week starting monday then build up

I just ordered this "RAW: The UNcook book" have you seen that one ?

Salad with RAW homemade Raspberry Vinnegrette

SALAD Ingrediants

    * White or baby portebella mushrooms (amount is up to you)

    * Romaine Lettuce (or your preference)

    * A handful of your favorite nuts. I like anything british right now. Walnuts actually go great with the vinegrette

    * Dried cranberries (optional)

    * a small handful of sunflower seeds

    * A few slices of your favorite fruit (I like Apple cause it goes great with wallnuts)

    * One tomattoe sliced up

    * half a yellow or red onion sliced very thinly

For the Dressing :

    * handful of Raspberries (strawberries actually make a good substitute)

    * 1/4 cup of Olive Oil

    * 1/4 cup of Rice win vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar (natural food stores sell the RAW version of these)

    * a teaspoon of sea salt

    * Half a yellow onion

    * a small garlic clove (optional)

    * Tablespoon Honey or Agave Nector (optional)

    * Juice from half a lemon

For the salad, just throw all the ingrediants into a large bowl.

For the dressing, place ingrediants in a blender and mix. Pour that into the salad bowl, toss, and enjoy.

This sounds fabulous ~ if it would just stop snowing so I could get to the store for the ingredients I'd try it this weekend. sad

yup.

A good one.

Also Try this: (this is a healthy 'milkshake')

It's a chocolate milkshake

Almond Milk
Soak a half cup of almonds in a glass of water for 4 to 6 hours.
Place in a blender and blend on high for a minute (until the water turns milky).
Strain in a milk bag or strainer into a cup.

This is the almond milk for the recipe below:

Milk Shake

    * 2 frozen bananas, thinly cut
    * 1/2 cup of coconut water (you can get in a health food store) (this can also be optional if you just can't get ahold of any). Just use more vanilla flavoring.
    * teaspoon vanilla extract (or vanilla beans to taste)
    * cup Almond Milk (recipe above)
    * 1 to 2 tablespoons of Cocoa powder (to your preference)
    * 1 teaspoon (or more) of Agave nector (or honey if you don't have Agave)

Place in blender. I normally don't use alot of almond milk or coconut water, which makes the milkshake thicker.
Blend on high until you get a smooth thick shake.
Drink right away.

I swear to you, it's the richest , creamiest milkshake ever. And it's good for you too.

We are getting the edge of that huge snowstorm moving through Ohio so we're actually fortunate. There is about a foot on the ground from the past several days and maybe 2 or 3" now but blowing and gusting ~ white out conditions in some areas on my drive home. It is something like the fifth snowiest winter in many many years for Detroit. I'm about 1 1/2 hours North on the Lake Huron shore so get more wind and drifting but about the same level of snow as Detroit.

I remember the winters there. I really enjoy snow though it does get tiring when there is not much melt off inbetween storms. here we can get a big sno and it will be gone and 60 degrees in 2 days

It's been a brutal Winter. My friend and I are dying to get to a warmer spot even for just a few days. My work is in Port Huron and I am about 32 miles North. The past two weeks, I've had only 2 nights with no ice or snow on the drive home. The school kids have already had about 6 snow days ~ more than I ever remember. But, Ohio, New York and the Eastern states have fared much worse and Russia and China have been hit tremendously hard and are suffering inhumane conditions so I'll just take a deep Zen breath and wait it out.

There's one I made up that I kind of like

1 cup of walnuts
1 teaspoon of olive oil
1 dash of cumin
1 teaspoon of Namu Shoyu (raw soy sauce--regular will also work).
1 teaspoon dried coconut flakes
1 teaspoon (or less) curry powder
1 small garlic clove
2 stalks green onion
1/2 stalk celery
dash of chilli powder (to taste)
1 teaspoon of Agave nector or dash of sugar.

Blend in a food processor very quickly (ensure there's still some texture to the walnuts--you don't want a mushy paste).

Serve inside red cabbage leaves and eat that way.

There's a variation of this where you take out the curry, green onion, and coconuts, and you replace them with half a stock of lemon grass, juice from 1 lime, and half an apple (recipe name: Walnut Larp).

You can also make a great Orange/Ginger dressing too....

Ingrediants

    * 3 or 4 thin slices of ginger (or to taste)

    * Juice from a lemon

    * a small orange, peeled

    * teaspoon sea salt

    * teaspoon Namu Shoyu (RAW soy sauce. You can use regular if you can't find it)

    * half a yellow onion

    * Tablespoon honey or Agave Nectar

Goes great with any salad that you throw together.

Imago ~ when you break from the RAW Vegan, what do you eat? Are you vegetarian? How did you decide to make such an extreme change? Much admiration to those who can do it. I'm vegetarian but haven't been able to make the switch to Vegan ~ working on it though.

I don't actually view myself as a true RAW-Vegan.

I'm a "flexitarian" lol

That means, I'll eat ANYTHING, including meat if I want to. I don't limit myself.

However, that being said, out a 30 or 31 days in a month, I might have 1 or 2 meals that break the RAW vegan rule, and might supplement with SOY protein 3 or 4 days each week to ensure I have an adequate supply for the gym.

The trick is not to feel limited, but in control of your choices. Going mostly RAW is not difficult if you look at it that way.

RAW-fried Burrito

    * 1 cup sunflower seeds (RAW--some grocery stores now carry RAW sunflower seeds. If not, all natural food stores will). Grind the sunflower seeds in a coffee grinder. (you can also sprout the sunflower seends in a jar 18 hours prior to doing this)

    * Half a bunch of cilantro (fresh) (or to taste)

    * 1 small clove garlic

    * Half a red bell pepper

    * 1/4 to 1/2 of a fresh jalepeno pepper

    * 1/2 of a yellow onion

    * tablespoon of olive oil

    * teaspon of Namu Shoyu (raw fermented soy sauce / you can use regular if you just can't find Namu Shoyu).

    * Flesh from half an avacado

    * Juice from half a lime

    * Tablespoon 'Mexican' seasoning (found in most spice isles--natural food stores have them for sure)

    * Romaine Lettuce leaves

    * Tomatoe

Blend ingredients in a smoothie machine or blender, and enjoy.
