RAW Recipe pt 1 (For Mach)

OK,

As most of you who pay attention know, I've been a mostly RAW vegan since December 15th, and though I will occasionally break it from time to time, I would still place myself at 90-95% RAW.

The benefits have been tremendous from my point of view (39 pounds since December), and my eczema is subsiding just a wee bit.

Anyways, some of you (ahem Mach), asked for me to post some recipes so here goes:

I'm going to present two great RAW Recipes (one is an entree, and the other is a smoothie).

RAW-fried Burrito

    * 1 cup sunflower seeds (RAW--some grocery stores now carry RAW sunflower seeds. If not, all natural food stores will). Grind the sunflower seeds in a coffee grinder. (you can also sprout the sunflower seends in a jar 18 hours prior to doing this)

    * Half a bunch of cilantro (fresh) (or to taste)

    * 1 small clove garlic

    * Half a red bell pepper

    * 1/4 to 1/2 of a fresh jalepeno pepper

    * 1/2 of a yellow onion

    * tablespoon of olive oil

    * teaspon of Namu Shoyu (raw fermented soy sauce / you can use regular if you just can't find Namu Shoyu).

    * Flesh from half an avacado

    * Juice from half a lime

    * Tablespoon 'Mexican' seasoning (found in most spice isles--natural food stores have them for sure)

    * Romaine Lettuce leaves

    * Tomatoe

In a food processor combine all of the ingredients except tomato and lettuce into a food processor. It should reach the consistency of a thick paste.

Chop tomatoes up into tiny pieces.

Spread the mixture onto lettuce leaves, add chopped tomatoes, fold the leaves, and enjoy. Trust me, it's delicious.

Banana Chai Smoothie (RAW, less than 300 calories, and filled with nutrients)

    * 2 frozen bananas, thinly sliced (you can actually use one banana and a couple of chunks of pineapple for a variation).

    * a few thin slices of fresh ginger

    * a teaspoon of cinnamon

    * a pinch of ground cloves

    * a pinch (or to taste) of nutmeg

    * tablespoon of honey or Agave Nector (optional)

    * about a half cup to a cup of water depending on how thick you like your smoothie (if you like it more 'milky' you can use freshly made almond milk, or cheat and add a scoop of soy protein).

Blend ingredients in a smoothie machine or blender, and enjoy.

yeah. It hasn't been all that hard either. It just sort of happens when you go RAW/Vegan.

And like I said, it isn't like I *don't* cheat.

But I will warn you, I work out ALOT. I always have. But the diet has definately speed up the weight loss.

I'm down to a snug/almost-loose 34" waste from a tight 36.

I should be at 32 inches in a months' time. I'm not sure I want to go thinner than that though--I have no desire to be a "thin" man, but definately want to get back to "fit".

But its not just the weight loss. It's the skin tone, the energy--all of it. It's really great.

Salad with RAW homemade Raspberry Vinnegrette

SALAD Ingrediants

    * White or baby portebella mushrooms (amount is up to you)

    * Romaine Lettuce (or your preference)

    * A handful of your favorite nuts. I like anything british right now. Walnuts actually go great with the vinegrette

    * Dried cranberries (optional)

    * a small handful of sunflower seeds

    * A few slices of your favorite fruit (I like Apple cause it goes great with wallnuts)

    * One tomattoe sliced up

    * half a yellow or red onion sliced very thinly

For the Dressing :

    * handful of Raspberries (strawberries actually make a good substitute)

    * 1/4 cup of Olive Oil

    * 1/4 cup of Rice win vinegar or Apple Cider Vinegar (natural food stores sell the RAW version of these)

    * a teaspoon of sea salt

    * Half a yellow onion

    * a small garlic clove (optional)

    * Tablespoon Honey or Agave Nector (optional)

    * Juice from half a lemon

For the salad, just throw all the ingrediants into a large bowl.

For the dressing, place ingrediants in a blender and mix. Pour that into the salad bowl, toss, and enjoy.

but this does sound like something worth trying...

I started out eating Raw only on weekends. Even that helped.

Then I went to RAW randomly. I'd eat raw for maybe 2 days, then regular for a day. then finally I just went mostly RAW.

But really--there are no rules. You just do whatever fits your lifestyle. It never hurts to increase your raw fruit/veggie intake no matter what your lifestyle.

nod i'm half-convinced that eating vegetarian (and occasionally vegan, if i try really hard lol) every other day here at school since last september is why i've continued losing weight, even though generally my eating habits aren't that stellar.

and i want that salad. like, now. hammer

You can also make a great Orange/Ginger dressing too....

Ingrediants

    * 3 or 4 thin slices of ginger (or to taste)

    * Juice from a lemon

    * a small orange, peeled

    * teaspoon sea salt

    * teaspoon Namu Shoyu (RAW soy sauce. You can use regular if you can't find it)

    * half a yellow onion

    * Tablespoon honey or Agave Nectar

Place in a blender, and blend.

Goes great with any salad that you throw together.

The really cool thing about increasing your RAW intake is you always end up feeling better. And that's worth ALOT in my book. nod

That sounds good. I love to add nuts, seeds and dried berries to my salads.

Mach

I found this hmmm

Gingalope smoothie
1. Take a cantaloupe peel and de-seed.
2. Cut into pieces, about 1"-2". cut a small piece of fresh ginger root, about 1" by 1" add these into a blender or food processor and blend.

I have lost about 10 lbs since Jan just by eating way more fruits and veggies but I want to bump that up a notch nod

If you can do RAW 3 or 4 days a week you'll be amazed.

Seriously, go to amazon and buy a copy of Matt Amdsend's recipe book "RAWvolution".
His nutloaf recipe is amazing. The hamburger (nutloaf burger) he makes is absoltely delicious.

And the deserts are great.

and being living and raw, they are all good for you.
