douglas coupland's "the gum thief" made me a little teary-eyed here and there, but then he'd get bitter and snarky again, and i could go back to relievedly suppressing my emotions.

I didn't. I had to reread that 3 pages leading up to it again cause I refused to believe she actually killed off the Oracle of the story. When I realized that she indeed killed him, I was sooooo goddamned pissed at Snape. But then upon talking with Carrie (we shared an intense Harry Potter orgnote chain She said something along the lines of "Remember, Dumbledore trusts Snape." I laughed. I cried. I imagined McGongal younger and naked. But mostly I cried. Thank you.

i remember, crying the first time, i heard a favorite author of mines died. i was 8 or 9, at the time, i got heavily into Roald Dahl books, i manage to read about half the ones he wrote. he had an assignment to which we had to invite someone to an imaginary class meeting. i choose him, all the kids looked at me with either angry, or like are you serious kind of a face, they told me he died. i didn't do anything at the time, but in the bathroom, i cried..so yeah, the teacher thought i had the "runs"..but yeah..

I wanted to cry when I was reading "Harry Potter & The Half-Blood Prince" * 3 years ago & Dumbledore died. * Did U ever notice that when U search 4 Prince on the Internet, sometimes that book pops up? wish U were here baby, on me--

oh, and when snape died. I remember getting a little misty-eyed over that one-- Steppenwolf that is. To my recollection The Grapes of Wrath, Kafka on The Shore, and even The Great Gatsby had that affect on me, among others. I guess I'm a sucker that way.

I cry over almost anything.
I got misty eyed just reading this thread. Marley and me, I cried for a few minutes and then hugged my dog, but I was reading HP at work and when dumbledore died I had to go in the bathroom to regain composure. I cried for 20 minutes. This next HP movie is going to be hard. I cried during the kite runner I cried during the time travelers wife ... the poisonwood bible ...the secret life of bees ...suzannes diary to nicholas I cried when shel silverstein died I am a sucker for a good book and just a big ole cry baby. We all should know that diversity makes for a rich tapestry, and we must understand that all the threads of the tapestry are equal in value no matter what their color. Maya Angelou
