NFL: Farve retiring

Brett Farve is finally retiring.....I'm sick of this guy beating the Bears year after year. Good riddance.

The Bears only beat the Pack when it does NOT count.

Wow. I sure as hell didn't see that coming after the season he had last year.

Say want you want man, Favre was probably the last of the old style "gunslinger" type quarterbacks.

I for one think he'll go down as one of the greatest to play the game and will be missed.

Well i live in Detroit, where we've NEVER had (in my lifetime) a franchise quarterback so i can totally respect and admire the man.

Favre was one of the best, no doubt. But some fans call him the best ever, which is crazy. Elway, Montana, Marino, Unitas, Brady, Manning were better, IMO.

oh, come on.
if you've got Dan Fouts and Jim Kelly on this list, there's NO way you don't include Favre.

I can't put Bradshaw, Nameth, Kelly or Young above Farve. But that is a solid list you got there.

You lost me with that one.

There are many great qb's. Farve is a ggreat one as well but I'd take any of the guys I mentioned over Brett.

I tend to put Favre and Elway, in particular, in pretty lofty territory. I see them as guys that if you removed them from their respective squads, you had teams that barely registered on the NFL map. Especially in Elway's case. You look back at those Bronco teams of the mid to late 80's? On offense, it was John Elway and a bunch of guys. And if you removed Elway from the mix, that team doesn't even sniff a Super Bowl.

Favre is pretty much the same thing.

Reggie White was the reason GB won that Superbowl.

Even Jim McMahon????

When Jim left the Bears, he had the HIGHEST winning percentage of All-time. The highest.

No, Gray, he wasn't. He was a huge part of it. No doubt. But Favre was the straw that stirred the drink. Both units were #1 that season, but White had better seasons in Philly. He was a very good defensive player in '96, but Brett Favre had an MVP season that year and was clearly the best player in the league.

McMahon over Favre? Dude, come on, you're reaching with that one. And I think the Bears defense had something to do with those wins. Favre is going to Canton - Jimmy Mac isn't.

Best QB I ever saw? Has to be Joe Cool.
