Ex-Moderator | Shame! They are trying to shame me into going to the gym.
I went with some coworkers to check out a new gym that's just down the street from my work. My company negotiated a mega-good deal for membership for employees. It's $35 a month with no registration fee. And I think I can get $20 a month back from my health insurance company if I go 8 times a month. After a quick tour of the facility (nice, cause it's all brand new) the membership guy got info from my two coworkers who are planning to join and when I said I want to think about it he basically shamed me and told me I NEED to go to a gym. It's MANDATORY, he told me. There's a reason I was sitting in that chair across from him today. When I advised I have a very busy life right now, he told me he has a wife and two kids but it could be 11pm and he'll still head up there. I told him I won't be going anywhere at 11pm at night. I wanted to tell him I'm a smoker and ask if he had anything he wanted to tell me about that, too. Has anyone tried to shame you into anything, lately? What the hell is that about? |

People try and shame me into shit all the time and I'll give you one guess what my response usually is
Unrelated but funny still, one time I was jaywalking from my work building to the restaurants across the street and I did a double take to make sure it was OK to cross and while doing that noticed a man standing across the street waving. Did the double take, then looked behind me and nobody was there. But it sure looked like he was waving at me and so I crossed the street and he was smiling and everything and I'm like OMG, am I getting picked up right now? and it turns out he was one of the recruiters at the Army office next to the restaurants. Hey, you made it to your appointment! Appointment? I'm going to lunch. Oh, you aren't here to sign up for the Army? No. Well why don't you just come with me and we'll get you started. Um, if you still have don't ask don't tell then don't waste your time cuz I suck dick and I will tell EVERYONE in the military I am gay! I only pay $16 a month and I still don't go
But those gym sales people will tell you anything for you to sign up, when I was first looking for a gym, I told one guy it was too much and he tells me isn't your health worth more than $35 a month! Rhythm floods my heart♥The melody it feeds my soul

So wait, your work is basically saying you have to start going to the gym...or this dude was just saying that kind of language to convince you...kinda like, "its mandatory that your start taking better care of yourself". Crap, did that question even make sense?

I guess my story fits into this category...my niece is getting married this summer, and from the beginning she wanted "the best of everything" She got the nicest hotel in town to do the reception, and now when her guest list is at 250!!! she realizes she can not pay for this and is looking towards extended family to help.
I am not paying for no huge ass wedding I had no word in, she planned it all herself, it is now that she is in a crunch that she wants our input. Not gonna happen.

OH MY GOD CARRIE. That's so awful and not good business.
When I was 18 or so my friends and I went to get one of those Scientology tests. We didn't really know what it was all about. At the end of the test they totally shamed me and said that I procrastinated a lot. They said I needed to sign up for the courses offered. It was going to cost me over $500. We want cigar puffing men that look like they wanna beat the living daylights out of us" Val"sporking is spooning with benefits"

people who try to shame me into things can usually take one look into the barren abyss of my eyes and know it's not going to get them anywhere.
