I don't think he insulted u.....
I tend to agree that no guns is a better option .....I guess its very different over there to here ....shrug ...in NZ even the police don't even have guns ...they have battons ...in a ideal world ...no weapons of destruction is better

I agree with you.
Aside from the scenerios Ken pointed out, it's a numbers game on national scale isn't it?

i would think if weapons coming into countries that ban them were very very hard to obtain, the overall violent crime rates attributed to guns would drop significantly. Moreover, cause guns allow a level of killing unmatched by any other weapon with regards to ease and use, I would think the overal violent crime rate would drop.

Does anyone have numbers on this?

Dan I say this with hetero love..... lol you keep sayin' if if if if.....you're dreaming my friend... the reality of the situation is that these guns are here...on the streets..and a lot of thime in the wrong hands.... we can be victims or we can protect ourselves...given our REALITY....

I agree....there should be no weapons at all.... BUT...that is not the world we live in unfortunately...I will not be victimized nor will I allow it to happen around me...

I am sorry that no one can understand my position on this.

oh Im sure we understand what ur saying ...and even partly agree .....
But allowing weapons...allows them to get into the wrong hands eithier by accident or purpose ...it creates more opportunities for violence ...wouldn't it be better that that man that came in there shooting was never able to obtain a gun?

Allowing handguns victimizes the entire nation.

Our crime rate shows this Ken.

This is probably a subject you and I should not discuss when we go out on our date in Minneapolis. I like Italian food by the way.

Um, you're the one playing the "if" game. If this were to happen, if that were to happen...it's not us saying this...it's you.

As for your comment Dan, about no guns being better as a whole for society....many gun holders do not think about the whole "for the better of society" they just think about their rights. Protecting that what is theirs.

I guess I just don't understand how the average american...or make that gun toting american can not see that gun control works just fine in other countries....other countries that are so much safer places to live.

To use the excuse that you need one out of fear or because of a "what if", well...maybe it's better to just not go out at all, since the world is just that unsafe.

Plus, there is a much higher chance of someone getting in a car accident than there is being caught up in a mass shooting at a Wendy's...but people take that chance every day and most of us do just fine.

First off...no need to insult me me k.... secondly... my original point has once again been lost....so I will say it slowly for you...

What if you.... were sitting in a restaurant....and someone walked in with a gun and started blasting away....putting you and/or a loved one in imminent harm's way.... would you rather sit and wait for the gun to be turned on you... or would you rather have the means to end the threat? That was the point...

I carry because it is necessary for me to depending on where I happen to be working that day.... I do not condone anyone without proper training or licensure to carry...

And for your last point... as far as anyone could end up killing someone on accident... well ofcourse that is true...but the jackass that walked in to that Wendy's was killing on purpose....and if someone did not have a way to end that threat...MORE people would have perished.... that is my point....nothing more...

I don't think he insulted u.....

IMO, this argument is akin to the argument that goes well, if you knew the detainee can tell you how to prevent New York City from being blown up by a nuke, do you torture him to get the information?.... It's really a rare, and in that case unprovable, instance that you are building your argument on. While I do appreciate your POV and your stance, guns in the hands of legal rational gun owners is not stopping gun violence in this country. And while I am sure that any and everyone would be thankful that you were there to put a stop to or stop further bloodshed by killing the killer, that really seems to be more isolated instances than the everyday occurrence when someone walks in somewhere and starts shootin up innocent folks.

Didn't you say it was an off duty cop? That is not just an average citizen with a gun as was your point.

I'm not piling on to ya Kenny, at least not over guns razz

lol

In this instance....it was a cop... which is fantastic...but ever heard the xpression "there's never a cop around when you need one".... that is usually exactly what happens.... and had it not been for this guy....with his weapon...and if no one else would have been able to stop the guy...we could be talking about a lot more victims.... sad either way...

I thought the shooter stopped himself? F'd up situation regardless...

It seems like we go over the same argument again & again. This is from ONLY 2 WEEKS AGO! Different incident. Same result. People dead from the simple action of a few pulls of a trigger.
