Place this in the PET PEEVES Category!! While it is not MINE....why do folks get irritated when people usa ALL CAPS on the computer??

Yeah, what gives? Always wondered why anyone would care...
But...it does SHIT me when people spell it "definately", don't double space after a period, and don't use PUNCTUATION!!!!! I AM A GUY, YO G's.

Actually "double spacing" after a period is no longer a necessary form in professional writing. That is an old antiquated form of typing and while I was taught that in High School typing class...it is no longer need or even accepted in formal writing nowadays. It's irritating because it's hard to read and it's pointless. Why would anybody do it? What else would you bother to read in all caps outside of a ransom note? | |

If words are capitalized it is considered as raising your voice in this context (typing words out on screen) because we dont have the benefit of actually hearing anyone's voice, so we can only judge visually. . I would think this perception was born of the fact that typing in all-caps generally distinguishes your typing from everybody else's and is - therefore - generally done for emphasis. Emphasizing everything in a paragraph is something the frustrated do to try and get their point across; hence the interpretation that it's over-assertive and hostile. | |

Ok...but what about when your vision begins to wane or for the visually impaired...they don't find it offensive. I mean to make a point I will use my caps for a few words..then that is emphasizing...but all caps....that is not yelling in my opinion and I'd never take offense to it. Doesn't make sense to categorize it as offensive....but that is why some people like brown mustard and some hate it...it just comes down to preferences.
