i know very intelligent people who seem to lack common sense smarts, and i know common sense smart people who aren't very intellectual...who do you generally prefer to be around?

i think if you can only have one or the other, it's fine either way as long as you realize where you're weak and appreciate other people for their book smarts/common sense.

so i don't know...i guess common sense would be my answer, because if you have it, you have enough sense to know how much book smarts you have, and you won't pretend to have knowledge that you just don't have.

did any of that make sense?

i always think of book smart people as those who think seinfeld and frasier are great comedies, as opposed to common sense people who think family guy is great comedy

I take the Series 66 exam tomorrow morning, so for the next twelve hours all I care about is book smarts.

But IRL (as the nerds say), common sense smarts is more valuable.

I have very little practical common sense and I'm probably two-fifths, or 33%, less book smart than I was maybe 5 years ago.




But seriously, what I said is pretty much true. I've never had practical common sense or street smarts and I've not really learnt anything in years as far as conventional knowledge. I don't know if I'm trying to achieve something or whether I've just given up.

After taking a placement test to determine my 'level of intelligence', I FAILED the math section.
I was placed into the work program even though I failed in that math section because in another part of the test, I figured out the math problems when they put it into word form.

I am hoping common sense..though I envy ppl that have both. I live with one..so not fair.

If it wasn't for booksmart none of us would banging plastic lettered squares to communicate our egos right now. Fuck common sense, however that's defined. I still can't understand an orange and I'd bet no-one else here can either. And I know I'm a clever cunt.

I can't stand dumb in any format. I really find it hard to be around less informed folk without being incredibly patronising.
