When is the first time a situation actually made you feel old? I'm in decent shape and have a fun personality, and don't "act" too old. I'm used to being an authority figure and all that good stuff and being called Mr. or Coach or what not, but this weekend an event unfolded that made me feel old for the first time in my life (I'm turning 28 next month) I was getting back from the races and a friend of mine called me to meet him at this bar and grill near my house. I meet him and we're playing billiards and having beverages and nachos when my buddy and I notice these two young breezies looking our way and kind of giggling. My friend says we should go talk to them. So my friend and I go over there. Right away she says hey aren't you coach so and so, and I respond yes how did you know. She said I used to be a cheerleader at the high school you coach at my Junior year, and me and my friend were trying to figure out if that was you, I just turned 21 this year. Oh I felt so old and like such a dirty old man, it was ridiculous. So now that i've shared my story when was the last time you had a situation that made you feel archaic? I was 35, and my cousin and I played a two-on-two basketball game against two younger fellows. Both of us were former high school ballers, and not bad either. We worked real hard and finally beat them.
After the game, I asked them which high school they attended. "High school?" said one. "We're in the 8th grade!" [Edited 2/27/08 11:48am]

Man, you aren't old. You're only 6 years older than the girl. That was just uncomfortable because of the school situation. You're hitting your prime as an athlete, if that makes you feel any better.

All right! So did you go home w/her?
I worked with this girl who was going to an all-girl school. She was super sweet, cute, but very shy, and her prom was coming up. She didn't have a date for a long time, and I considered that I might offer to take her (just as a friend, nothing weird) I think she might have accepted, but I never had to offer as she got a date. Later it occurred to me that I might literally be twice as old as some of the people at that prom, and I was glad she found a date! She probably would have laughed at my offer! OLD!! My Legacy

Your generation will probably live to at least 100, so you haven't reached the 25% mark yet.

My dad used to say he started feeling old at 35, because he realized that 15 years ago, he was 20 but in 15 years, he'd be 50.

When I'd skip buying a cool looking pair of Doc Martins cause Kenneth Cole would look more my "speed".
Oh, plus whenever my stylist picks a haircut that might look too "young", I might protest. I sucks being in my mid 30s.

OK, before this gets out of hand, let me tell you young 'uns a secret.
Five years from now, you will say, "Damn, I was so much younger five years ago!" Then, five years after that, you will once again say, "Damn, I was so much younger five years ago!" And then, five years after that, you will say, "Damn, I was so much younger five years ago!" Do you get it? You are ALWAYS young. If I was smart, I would sell this life-changing advice instead of giving it away for free.

Another thing that makes me feel old, I usually spend my tax return on worthless entertainment and trivial things. What did I do this year? I spent it on a new roof for my home, investment money in my IRA, and the left overs on gas money for a roadtrip I'm taking soon and groceries!
