It was a piss-poor analogy. What the allegory said to me, is that rich people are spiritually poor and less happy than their bumpkin cousins. What, exactly, is painting an unpleasant image of wealth supposed to do? I get the whole "money don't buy you happiness" angle, but the having of money does not automatically mean an individual is lacking on a deeper level. LAME. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

thanks 4 sharing that TA
it reminded me of the book- the boy in the striped pyjamas- by john boyne anyone who has read it can see that a childs perspective on things is completely different to ours as adults. even though that book is a fable- it touched me deeply- my heart still skips a beat everytime i think of it. its a shame children have to grow up spelling edit striped not stripped [Edited 2/28/08 2:18am] seems that i was busy doing something close to nothing, but different than the day before

I believe that happiness is all about perspective.
We have been convinced that it lies in a romantic relationship and/or money, but I'm single and lead a very simple life now and I've never been happier.

My new job doesn't pay as much as the old but I'm happy. I have my own house with peace of mind and though I'm single, I'm never lonely. It is so awesome.
