For the literalists...

par·a·ble - noun

1. a short allegorical story designed to illustrate or teach some truth, religious principle, or moral lesson.
2. a statement or comment that conveys a meaning indirectly by the use of comparison, analogy, or the like.

I was going to say that, but I kept thinking "allegory," and I think that involves animals somehow lol

Yeah, I got that. It was a piss-poor analogy. What the allegory said to me, is that rich people are spiritually poor and less happy than their bumpkin cousins. What, exactly, is painting an unpleasant image of wealth supposed to do? I get the whole "money don't buy you happiness" angle, but the having of money does not automatically mean an individual is lacking on a deeper level.

LAME.

thanks 4 sharing that TA

it reminded me of the book- the boy in the striped pyjamas- by john boyne

anyone who has read it can see that a childs perspective on things is completely different to ours as adults.
even though that book is a fable- it touched me deeply- my heart still skips a beat everytime i think of it.

its a shame children have to grow up pout

spelling edit striped not stripped doh!

I believe that happiness is all about perspective.

We have been convinced that it lies in a romantic relationship and/or money, but I'm single and lead a very simple life now and I've never been happier. cloud9

I've been pretty darn happy myself lately. My new job doesn't pay as much as the old but I'm happy. I have my own house with peace of mind and though I'm single, I'm never lonely. It is so awesome.
