I feel gutted

ok ... I was in the running for a new job and I went through all (4!) stages.
Today they called me, saying it was a close call but they chose the other candidate:

a) During the technical interview I seemed a little afraid ... I wasn't, I was nervous as hell ...
b) Some members of the team wondered whether I wasn't too communicative to fit in the team ...

What doesn't kill me, makes me stronger ... but this wasn't something I needed right now sad

Knowing that this is a very technical job, allow me to say my technical skills are wicked and I combine them with good verbal skills. Most of the technical teams however are a gathering of nerds who exchanged their ability to communicate for a lifetime account on slashdot.org . They might be scurred ...

Hard lines, it's always miserable when you get a knock back like this. All I can offer is to just take note of why you didn't get it and improve for next time. Good luck too.

awwwww... that sucks. comfort

But maybe it's for the best... Time will tell.

I was once turned down for a job for no good reason other than I didn't seem like a good fit for the team and the hiring manager thought I wouldn't be happy there. He gave me no negative feedback, even telling me he'd received numerous recommendations in my favor from everyone he'd talked to about me (as this was a new job within my same company). In the end, they didn't hire anyone that round.
I was LIVID at first. Then upon further reflection realized, he was probably right. I probably would have hated the job.

SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME TODAY

Although it wasn't a drawn out interview process. I was initially confident after the interview (I can't recall the last time I wasn't successful) and expected a call the following morning to confirm my expectations.

But today, as morning came and went, my confidence slowly evaporated. When I eventually got the call this afternoon I already knew what to expect: "It was a close call, you were the second-favourite.. if another job comes up" -- the whole yadda yadda.

And all this on my birthday! cake neutral

But to hell with it, these things happen for a reason. I'll do better and nail the next interview that comes along. Cheer up! comfort
