There were warning signs this woman was unstable, but for whatever reason, she fell through the cracks in the system. Sad. That's beyond sad. The fathers of the children were trying to get custody of their kids but the courts ruled against them. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

The fathers of the children were trying to get custody of their kids but the courts ruled against them. This shows that the automatic assumption that women are better caretakers needs to be examined on a case by case basis and the law shoudn't just blanketly favor women. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It is just horrific really.
On one hand I do feel it's right to keep children connected to their families, on the other I believe instead of forcing people to be parents, who cannot handle parenthood, they should be allowed without question to just hand over their kids to the state. The state's main objective is to not pay for the care of children whenever possible. But this objective often leads to these types of situations because the interest of the state always outweighs the interest of the children. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

If she had called to request that the children be immediately taken off her hands, would the state have complied or would they have forced her to try and work it through? Many on the right are obsessed about "responsibility" and forcing children into the hands of those who are not capable of raising them is simply the wrong idea. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

It's one of the big stories here in NYC. Apparently, people in the neighborhood knew she wasn't in her right mind. She was seen talking to herself and just acting strange. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Now take some responsibility and look after the kid! Without our help, of course. That'd be a handout." "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

"She was flustered," he said. "She did not receive the money from social services she was expecting and she snapped."
What in theeee fuck? Ummmm, yeah. I'm pretty much a single mother, and I have been BROKE AS A JOKE at certain times in the past, ummmm, yeah. This is about money? And even so, I'm not the most stable person either. But you don't see me stabbing my kid. Eh.

I don't know anything about you, so I'll speak in generalities. I typed "serious mental health issue" but should've qualified that by referring specifically to conditions like paranoid schizophrenia or extreme depression, rather than run-of-the-mill things like ADHD or milder cases of bipolar disorder. Being bipolar and a psych. student myself, I can't believe I forgot that. I'm sorry. I'll refrain from posting without thinking from now on. "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
