Ex-Moderator | decadence I've glimpsed it here and there over the years and indulged myself a time or two... or three or four... OK, my 20's were mostly ALL decadence.
I try to enjoy in moderation these days, but for me, that means being decadent now and again (in moderation) also. Is that an oxymoron? Tonight my decadence was my dinner. I made myself a sandwich on a baguette with 2 slices of thick, apple smoked bacon, brie (with the rinds cut off), gala apple slices and a schmear of apricot paste. Finished it off with triple chocolate cheesecake. What have you done that's decadent lately? |

it's nice when i get older and simple things become decadent because the crazy ass decadence of younger years just seems like too much effort to me now...not to mention that when you get older, doing some of the decadent stuff you did when you were younger is just plain unattractive and a little sad.
(not that there's A THING wrong with being unattractive and a little sad, but i try to embrace those qualities in extreme moderation.) my biggest act of decadence in the recent past has been buying a new fancypants iPod with all the trimmings. i don't really consider this terribly decadent because i know i'm going to use the hell out of it every day until its (or my) final sputter of life, but it still felt weird to spend so much on a new toy. oh, that and i've recently been introduced to snobby fancy locally grown/made chocolate bars. before this i'd be happy to eat a chunky. now i've crossed the choco-snob threshold and there's no turning back for me.

I still haven't tried those and have been wanting to since I read an article about them a month ago or so... I'll have to get myself up to Kitchen Window!! |

Hmm... I guess the coat I just bought could be considered decadent. It's cream colored, so I won't wear it often which seems like a waste. But it's WONDERFUL, I love it. & I just found some boots to match so what the hell, at least it was on sale
