Just watched last SOPRANOS episode! (Spoilers) Finally watched the last episode of the Sopranos after ploughing through the dvd boxsets. Loved every minute of it and I thought the final scene, despite hearing it was rubbish, was superb. It wasn't cliche and obvious, but brilliantly crafted and ambiguous enough that you could read into it however you wanted.
Great use of Journey's - Don't Stop Beliving, in the diner it was like Tony and Carmela were on a date from when they first got together. Nice to see the family unit altogether at the end, happy finally. But did Tony get whacked or not? The evidence seems to point towards the former, the mystery guy at the bar, the other restaurant customers looking spookily like people that had been killed in previous episodes (the truck driver, the coloured guys at the counter), the mystery guy going to the WC (to get a gun a la The Godfather, and Tony's favourite scene) and the flash back chatting to Bobby in the boat about getting killed. Most of all though, as the show revolves around Tony, he's our eyes and ears, or world so to speak. If he were to die, the show would just end, straight to black, as one would imagine dying in real life. He wouldn't even hear the shot. Still, despite this I like to think he survived and all these hints were cheeky red-herrings thrown in by David Chase and the writers. I miss this show! I'm sooooo gonna miss it as well. I watched the first series on Channel 4 in the UK back in 98/99 (I think it was) and then left it. For some reason I picked up series 1 and 2 dvd boxsets last summer and watched the first series again, followed by the second. Been hooked ever since and have got through a boxset each month. Even my missus was hooked by the end, it was so addictive. We would sit up most evenings just watching episode after episode...we literally had to drag ourselves to bed!! www.filmsfilmsfilms.co.uk - The internet's best movie site! | |
