Org Poets???

Just curious if anyone here writes their own poetry? I'd love to read some if anyone would care to share? And let me get the ball rolling by posting some of my own for starters. Don't be too harsh on me! biggrin

In My Bed

Her music is the infection of my soul
Leaving my heart out of control
Her voice is like the angels on high
Sending my body flying into the sky

The words she sings echos my world
Lying in my bed exhausted and curled
She comes to me telling me her pain
I want to console her and tell her I feel the same

I want to sing to her a beautiful song
And tell her with me is where she belongs
I'll tell her, her inner beauty shines through
And tell her she should never ever be blue

But she only lives inside my head
And I am still lying inside my bed
And even though we are both still blue
Our voices will mesh together as two

I've written many poems over the year. When I was 19, I wrote the most. I had a few published while I was at Purdue. I also was invited to read some for an annual event in Chicago every spring. I haven't written much over the years. I'll try to org note you one or two.

I think the Mr. Org Poet goes to Shausler
and the Ms. Org Poetess goes to ScarLett.

sure..heres a happy lil ditty called "The death of me"

I eat up all your lies..cause they taste so good
You said you'd never break me.. but i always new you would
You tell me i'm a prince..ahh i bet you say that to all the boys
If there's one thing that you pride yourself on.. it's makin' a man feel good
But when you share it around..it brings me no joy

There's not an honest woman alive..cept for my Mother and my sister
And if one has passed me by..i guess i must have missed her
Your soul was painted black..when you were just a little child
No matter how much you kid yourself..i know you'll always give over.. to your darker side

Does it come from above..this painful love..that i feel
And if so why do i know..you'll be..
The death of me

You suck out all my strength..it's what gives you your power
If you can get me to crawl along the floor..and beg you for just a little more
You've reached
Your finest hour

And if i've ever had enough..and you sense some hostility
It's at this time you bring out.. your most dangerous weapon
Vunerability
You keep your cards close to your chest..i never know what's going on
Just when i feel my life-line about to break.. you stroke my hair and say
Oh honey..what's wrong

You're an evil little bitch..i know this to be true
You've taken away my self respect..and all i've ever believed in
I love you

Does it come from above.. this painful love.. that i feel
And if so why do i know..you'll be
The death of me

I'd cut off my left hand..just to touch you with my right
Cause i'd rather feel the flames of hell..licking at my body
Than be alone..tonight
When i hold you close.. that's when i'm most alive
I still feel the need to protect you..and tell you that you're beautiful
When i look..in your eyes

Does it come from above..this painful love..that i feel
And if so why do i know..you'll be
The death of me

"Come and Go"

January cold back in '86
Just another rainy day
That's when they told me you weren't around
And the rain helped to wash the tears away

Oh how we cried when we learned and we learned
Oh how we cried tears of pain
Oh how when you died, we all died a little
And the rain helped to wash the tears away

People you love seem to come and go
While everyone else seems to stay
People you love seem to come and go
Where the casement light falls dim and gray

January warmth back in '88
Just another sunny day
That's when they told me you came around
And the sun helped to dry the tears away

Oh how we cried when we learned and we learned
Oh how we cried tears of joy
Oh how when you cried, we all smiled a little
And the sun helped to dry our tears away...

I write poems all the time. Usually when I'm depressed [which is all the time as well] smile

Anyway, this is one I wrote for an ex of mine whom acted
like a sick little puppy all the time.

I actually sent this one thru email as a means of breaking
up.

Never got no reply anymore!

"NEUROSIS"

I felt some slight neurosis coming
as I squatted down and pissed.
I knew I'd pass a kidneystone
and next to me a serpent hissed:

"I sense a cloud of doubt inside
the halo of your crooning aura.
Tell me, did your man expel
some stars from out his nebula?"

"Oh serpent with your obsolete
hindlegs", I responded. "there's
this lassitude inside my limbs,
an arid lisp in all my prayers".

"Let me see", the snake eluded
"often times, your heart denies
the one thing that your body will
admittingly extemporise..."

Thus I looked between my thighs
and saw the shallow puddle there.
Serpent creapt alongside me and
fixed the stone within his stare.

He pondered "Yes indeed, I see.
Afraid of the exposure, you've
retrieved inside your little armour
praying Time will pull you through".

Perhaps you're right, I murmured as
I pulled up to my feet and placed
the kidneystone within my palm
and beckoned Love to show it's face.

"The night is salvor", serpent said,
"Yet, distantly ascends the sun.
If love feels like a case of grand theft,
take your heart and run, run, run...".

God bless America

God bless america what about the rest
are we thinking god is thinking that we are the best
God bless america what a selfish thing 2 say
How about god bless all of us not just the usa
GOD bless america
I think thats what i read
all of us are in need of god and all our blood is red
God bless america
Is that why the towers fell
Love your neighbor as u love yourself
or we're all doomed 2 hell
God bless america
we've been singing it 4 awhile
but what a selfish song 2 sing
We are not his only child.

That wonderful day that i met u

I've seen beautiful snow on a cold december day
i've had lunch on the ocean and the moon a foot away
i've been 2 weedings that have brought me 2 tears
i've seen love last 4 over 45 years
i've seen the sun rise in paris on a beautiful day in june
i'd gladly c u later but i'd rater c u soon.
but nothing i've done or could ever do
compares 2 that wonderful day that i met u.
I'VE MADE LOVE IN THE RAIN
ON A BLANKET OF FEATHERS
I've seen relationshis fall apart then magically come 2gether.
I'VE seen roses bloom that reminded me of u
but nothing i've done or could ever do
compares 2 the wonderful day that i met u.
the rain will fall. the sun will shine
the sky will 4ever b blue
the most beautiful thing in the back of my mine
is that wonderful day that i met u.

drops: a bop

could you be my muse?
the one who brings me letters
like raindrops tapping
on my heart? could you
help me find the meter,
the rhyme that i lost over time?

perhaps she’ll let him decide...

could you be the one
i’ve searched dark corners for
like solomon’s bride?
the one i search my life for
but couldn’t find
until i closed my eyes?
the one who knows my soul
like a newly discovered tattoo?

perhaps she’ll let him decide...

maybe it’s too soon
to call you my muse
maybe i should wait
to catch a glimpse of your eyes
in the moonlight or
perhaps i’ll let you decide...

Alright. I never share my poetry (too shy!) but here goes.
(I wrote this about 6 years ago. There's enough distance to share it now..)

So now things are figured out
and smoothed out
and don't need to be freaked out
anymore.
More time,
that's all I wanted anyway.
I don't understand your confusion,
your questioning.
You're beautiful, you know?
You know, there's a lot I could say
but I think that got cleared up yesterday
when I left with my bra in my coat pocket
and my sunglasses shading my tired eyes from reality.

The cloudy morning after.

Beautiul, but sad, but at the same time very true to life. What I'm trying to say is that I really like it. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe the machine will have to share some writing soon.

The Hustler

He Hustles for the dolla', makes me wanna holla'

All he sees are late nights, a nation losing sight and a
quick deliverance of his life

From down to sun up is when he lives
These are the times he makes the money to eat, from the
people in the hole livin' their lives and payin' the
toll

The man who sells his soul and cooks the pie for the life
which he hides from his wife who goes to PTA and smokes a
joint on the way

The woman who sells her mouth then goes down south when
the voices beg for the spoon liquid and flame which
give her no shame

And Baby's got mommy and daddy workin' twelve hour days
and Baby's lives a life in the shade
Baby's got the house so big and the car so nice yet
theres still the need to fulfill the empty life, so with
money flowin' like weeds growin' baby buys the things
that the empty heart brings, inhalin' snifflin' swallowin'
Listen...can't you hear baby, fillin' the space and
reservin' the place

Mary Jane, Chronic, Weed...for those who use it and think
they can rule it...its got them too, got them rollin'
the dice and doin a heist

And here is the hustler tryna make a life
Never done nothin' wrong but took the only bus that came
along

Strapped for defense in a world that doesn't make sense
This is the life that he made, and it sure as hell wont
a life in the shade

The money was always to tight, "only enough to keep on
the lights"
The food was always too short, "forget about them cookies
you see in the store"
The clothes never fit...this hustler never had shit!
And even though the A's were made, no one ever told him of
another life another way

Now he's got the money, more than I've ever seen more than
he's ever dreamed
Now he's got the ride so nice it's only made customized
Now he's got the life so big he wonders how he's gonna live

See he's good he's just misunderstood
Happiness comes to him through his lady and his baby
The kind of man momma wants you to meet...'til she finds
out what he does in the streets

You know him
He's your cousin, your uncle, your daddy, your brother
your man...

I know him too.
He's my friend!
And he hustles for the dolla'...can't you hear me holla'?
