HOLY TAX REFUND, BATMAN!!

So I filed my taxes last week and elected to have my refund directly deposited in my checking account (as I always do...). I was just checking my balance and such online and instead of deposting the $600 or so I was supposed to get back they've deposited 7,024 dollars!!!

oh, this is going to be a hassle to correct. lol I'm calling my bank first thing tomorrow to try to figure out what happened.

They don't just hand out bigger refunds. lol When you file you know exactly what you're supposed to pay or get back. This is definitely an error on someone's part.

I wish I could say that you can let this go and keep the dough, but you know they'll find out and want that money back.

I usually use HR Block. No Worries.

I actually just called my bank. They are removing it from my account within 5 business days and will call me back to let me know what happened. The girl was all "it's good to know there are honest people in the world, you could have just kept it..." confused

I really hope it was just someone else's deposit, they'll direct it to the correct account and mine is going to come through Monday or something. I want to make sure I DO get what is owed me and not have it be a bigger hassle.

You KNOW I entertained the thought. A magical $7000 shows up, it's only natural to think about what to do with it. lol

She doesn't know that Uncle Sam will find out and come after the money. Isn't it like the ONLY $$$ mistake that can actually be taken back. Because if a bank made that error, you could fight it and win...they would be very intimidating about it.

I'm sure she will get a lift from your prayers. Not as much a lift a cash donation would make, but a lift nonetheless.
