Another pet peeve of mine

The Big Bang is tossed out there as a possible explanation for the origin of the universe. This is a theory that seemed to capture the imagination of the public, but if you ask me, it's a bit presumptuous to think that the parts of the universe that we're barely able to see and account for must somehow constitute the entire universe. That's nuts. We just barely figured out that there's a black hole at the center of the Milky Way. We can barely understand our own Sun (we can't exactly take samples of it). And you expect me to believe a theory about a big explosion? It's pure speculation, which is fine, but for fuck's sake I wish someone would put a new theory out there. A big bang? Shaky notions about a red shift? Is that all you got?! GEEZ...

Sorry...I can't sleep and it's made me all grumpy.
