Disney Resorts Florida

I live in the UK and will be visiting Florida in October with my handicapped partner (he can walk, but not far and will bring his ECV) and our 6 year old grandaughter. We will stay in one of the Disney 'Moderate' resorts (Caribbean Beach or Port Orleans - Riverside or French Quarter), but cannot choose which one! Have you stayed at any of the resorts and if so which do you recommend? Which would be best for getting around on his ECV. I've been studying disboards.com, but am now even more confused! Please help!!

Grizzie,
Have stayed at both & can provide you with more input later tonight... I am at work now, secretly accesing the .ORG, and will reply when I home. The DISboards are pretty extensive; but you are right, they can get overwhelming & confusing.

My family & I will also be visiting Orlando this October, perhaps we'll bump into each other

I stayed at the Port Orleans River side in 02. The room was ok and there was a pool directly outside my room. You can eat breakfast at a central location. All in all, we enjoyed ourselves there. Plus, the idea is to spend more time at the parks than at your room.

I live 2 hours from Disney, the All Star resorts are top notch, and I believe the lowest priced resorts also. I have also stayed at the Grand Floridian for a wedding I was photographing, that place was LUXURIOUS!

I stayed in the All Star SportsResort in 1998. Was pretty good from what I remember. There's lots to see around the place.

Thank you, no rush. I don't have internet access at home right now, and will not be back at work until next Thursday (28th).

my friend went to disneyland with her kids and her inlaws.
her father in law was in a scooter and she said it was unexpected
but you get to bypass the lines when you are with someone who
needs that kind of assistance. she said it was great! biggrin
it was easy for him to get to the rides too. (although perhaps
she was talking about the days he was in the wheelchair versus
the scooter) but she said he could get right up to the ride and
just go from one seat to the other. easy peasy smile
doveShe couldn't stop crying 'cause she knew he was gone to stay dove
