i don't understand why intuition-retarded, socially inept people are so successful at getting management positions. people who have good bosses should really appreciate that fact, because smart people in management are an endangered species.

plenty.

but my philosphy is i'm not there to make friends. i'm there to do my job. if i make friends, that's great. but if there's someone i don't like or i can tell doesn't like me, i put on a smile and act cheerful and friendly anyway.

and when the people i manage don't get along, i just want to wring their necks and tell them that they're all grown adults (most of them are over 40) and to suck it up and get over it. it's really irritating.

my attitude about work is similar. sometimes going to work is a vacation from my personal life, so when i'm AT work, i really don't want to develop really deep relationships with co-workers unless it just happens organically...which, in a corporate/law office setting, is insanely rare to the point of impossibility for me. lol

i'm a big fan of being pleasant and friendly, but leaving the personal element at home where it belongs. when people i work with get all TMI about their family life, it really creeps me out.

The big problem with my boss is that she was always trying really hard to make me her friend. She would tell me all the nitty gritty most intimate details about her personal life. It was completely inappropriate and half the time I was in a position of acting like her therapist. At the same time, she was reaping a lot of profit off my work and underpaying me, so this "friendly" feeling wasn't exactly mutual.

Yeah what the fuck is with that? The senior management at my company are lunatics who are completely inept at being good managers. I had the best managers at my job in Chicago. I knew they were nice at the time, but I didn't realize they were exceptions, not the rule until I experienced NYC managers. wacky

Ugh, mine too. Well not really try to be my friend, but she is always talking about shopping and tv shows and all sorts of frivolous pop culture shit, and then the other one insists on giving us updates on her son's potty training progress.

Used to. I had to work with this lady who was a bitch's bitch. lol She was not a supervisor in the department, but boy, she sure acted like one. She had a real nasty attitude, and had a way of talking down to people, like they were fucking stupid. The one day, I got sick of her attitude, and really told her off, told her what I thought of her and how she was treating me. Her attitude towards me changed somewhat, but I still couldn't stand the bitch.

My boss was also a real dumbass, he let her do whatever she wanted. He paid her for overtime (like a half hour to a full hour per day), even though half the time she got her work done quickly, and did not need to be paid for any overtime. rolleyes disbelief I think he felt sorry for her for some reason. Either that, or he didn't want to deal with her bitchiness. He was a real wuss and an ass, and I am so glad I'm out of there. I did not like how he handled her and when I told him on two separate occasions about a personal problem that I was going through (depression). When review time came, he gave me the absolute WORST review I ever had (criticized me for everything, even though depression affects how you feel and function). I am so glad I got out of there, that place was making me looney, and was not helping my mental health.

I've come to the conclusion that Corporate America sucks, and that I just don't fit into that scene. I would love to work for myself, have my own business, and make good money. Then I can say, "Fuck you!" to bosses everywhere. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening anytime soon. sigh
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Thank god the person I did not like is no longer at my work, she was fired. nana
Her name is Jacy, she was the bitch from hell!! She hated me from the moment we met, heaven only knows why, I am an angel. innocent
She made my life impossible while she was there (one year of pure hell) she was always back stabbing me, and telling people made up stories about me. She would go out of her way to make me look bad. She was rude and obnoxious, and ugly as living hell. Finally, enough people complained about her and her attitude, and our boss gave her the boot!! hah!

woot! I wish my boss could have done that with the former worker that I wrote about in my post above. People complained to her about to him, and his answer was, "Give it time". Give it time, what kind of answer is that? He was a wimp. confused

hug The huge boobs could very well have been part of it. giggle But I'm glad he saw the situation for what it was, and gave your former coworker her walking papers.

Yeah, there's this one chick who I'm working with who isn't the friendliest of people. And you know, I never meant to walk into that job making enemies. But hey, who does, right? lol

And I try to be patient and tolerant of all my co-workers. Sure, I like to joke around and lollygag and stuff. But I do treat everyone there with courtesy, respect, and kindness. But this one chick can't seem to stand me for some reason. I didn't want things to be like that, but that's how it is.

My theory as to why she dislikes me is that (and I really hate to say this) she's just one of those ghetto-ass 'round-the-way chicks. And because my status ain't hood enough, she don't wanna hear it from me. I try and be kind to her, but she just writes it In her mind she probably thinks I need to turn in my Black pass. I'm used to the whole nerdy/whiteboy/oreo/Carlton Banks stereotype since I've been getting that pretty much most of my life. Sure, I'm different from your average person of color. I like New Wave and music in general, but if you can't be respectful and tolerant of that then that's your problem. I refuse to change and conform for anyone. hmph!

I just think she's a player hater. I've got the talent and soul and she doesn't.
