I have Photoshop CS2 and I like it, but it's lacking Nikon Capture's colour, black and white control points. If they had a better way to do spot editing like with say clone tools then Nikon Capture NX would be the complete program for me. Works nicer with RAW and NEF than Photoshop too.

Smart Objects is the best new tool IMO, where you can apply effects in a non-destructive way.
There are a lof of good tutorials for photographers on that link too.

It's just an intuitive way to affect specific parts of a photo. I use it all the time now. By the black and white control points I meant affecting either only the black areas or the highlights.

Well, Photoshop has all these tools. It's just a matter of knowing they are there, and how to use them. Try the levels or the curves tools. You'll find them usefule. They are in CS2 also.
