Those of you who've had them out, about how long did it take you to recover? was it bad?

I was 20/21ish when mine were removed.

I recall eating a burger the second or third day


The suturs and healing lasted another week or so after that. It wasn't that bad.
And mine were impacted so they had to perform surgery on me--it wasn't just a yank job.

Of course, my friend Lenny got his removed at 19, purely a yank job, and his face bruised and swelled up for days.

It depends on the person I guess.

Either way, better to do it now than wait until you're older.

There are only 3 of them, and they'll never come out on their own...

Cause over time, your teeth can change position, etc. etc., and if they cause a problem in your older age, it takes much longer to heal.


If they're impacted or could be impacted, they should be taken out. They can be quite painful in old age.

What the doctor had to do was slice each bottom tooth in two. Then remove each piece one at a time carefully as there was a nerve running between the roots that could have paralized the bottom part of my face or some shit like that.

I mean, better to have them out, based on dentist recommendations. I didn't mean if they're there, just to remove them.

But if there is a chance they could be problematic, and impacted ones always have that chance, it's much better to remove early on.

i will only let mine be removed if absolutely necessary. i think they are there for a reason, even if they don't have to be used anymore.

(in the old old days they were used, because people lost their teeth mor easily)

I dont think it will be that bad. I had mine just pulled though.
I think that was the worst, not that it hurt it just was fucked up, the pressure and the idea that this guy was rocking back and forth trying to yank that shit out of my mouth.
I think I was better in a couple days. You just have to make sure you rinse well where they extracted the tooth cause you dont want food to acculmilate in there and get stank mouth or worse an infection.

3 impacted.....just 3..never had the 4th.

Great surgeon, back at work the next day with no worries.....my bro on the other hand looked like he had been 10 rounds with a grizzly

they started telling me at 18 I "Had" to have them pulled

I had all 4 removed when I was 34. I asked to be knocked out for it.
It was quick and pretty painless.
Make sure you go to a maxilofacial surgeon, they are the best for this type of thing.
I had it done on a Friday and back to work on Monday.
I am glad that I finally had it done.

Well In my case, I had to get my out, they were impacted and had to go 11 years ago. Now, all I have to be concerned with is routine cleanings or needed fillings.
