EVIDENCE FROM THE NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC:
Researchers may have uncovered the first archaeological evidence that refers to Jesus as an actual person and indentifies james, the first leder of the CHristian church, as his brother. The 2, 000-year-old ossuar-a box that held bones - bears the inscription "James, son of Joseph, brother of Jesus." Until now, all references to the thrre men have been found only in manuscripts. Andre Lemaire, a paleographer at the Sorbonne University in Paris ('Ecloe Pratique des Hautes 'Etudes), firsy saw the artifact and its inscription while examining the relics of a prive collector in Jerusalem. He dats the box, which was empty, to 63 A.D. "This is probablygoing to be the biggest New Testament Find in my lifetime, as big as the Dead Sea Scroll," said Ben Witherington, a New Testamen professor at Asbury Theologial Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. "Chrisitanity, Judaism and Islam are all historical religions. and they have to be open to historical inquiry," he said. "To some extent they stand or fall on the authenticity of the historical record. This gives gives us one more piece of evidence outside of the Bible that these are real people, and they are importnat people, and prvides a small confirmation for the claims made about James as the brother of of Jesus." You can find the rest of the story in the National Geographic. The find is described in the November/December issue of Biblical Archauological Review.

Lisa, the one thing that I have discovered is that most people claim to have an unwavering belief in God, but that is most certainly not the truth. They go through the motions of said belief, but they live a life in fear. They fear death. They fear pain. They fear "bad" things happening to them, good people. And yet it is my opinion that those that truly believe in God, believe that God is a loving God and therefore do not fear. They believe that what happens has a reason and do not question that reason. They wake up in the mornings and say "Your will, not mine, be done." But those that say they believe and live in fear only wish for their own will to be done. Now there are those that would argue that their will is God's will, and in essence this is true, but they still live in fear. So perhaps the numbers of believers are not as high as you may imagine. There are those that believe, those that say they believe but their actions show differently, and those that state out front that they don't believe.
There is nothing wrong with believing, but make sure your faith is solid and "fear not". The mark of your ignorance is the depth of your belief in injustice and tragedy. What the caterpillar calls the end of the world, the master calls a butterfly. ~ Richard Bach "Illusions"

Evidence that a man named Jesus existed and was an important spiritual figure. I have always believed that Jesus of Nazareth existed. I just don't think he was the son of God. So to me, this new evidence hardly qualifies as proof of God's existence.
