If it were not for insanity, I would be sane.

In fact, a boy that made friends with the Columbine killers was the one who was spared. Because he bothered to make an effort and didn't just resort to making fun.

The Columbine killers were not tortured kids.

I never said they were tortured as such. Bullying doesn't have to be a constant every day thing to affect someone. Even just general exclusion and being ignored can do a lot to somebody.

Anyway, I got that info about the boy from watching an interview from him firsthand. He said he befriended the boys prior to the shooting and he was ultimately spared.

I think American's attitudes towards guns in general are quite primitive.
I can't understand the affection nor the stubborn defensiveness when it's suggested that their amendments are outdated. Nothings perfect. And nothing last's forever. Why oppose progression? Seems almost hypocritical when you consider the USA's love for advancements in other fields such as medicine and technology.

We don't have many guns in my country. I've never known anyone that owns a gun (AFAIK). I don't know anyone who's ever been threatened with gun or shot at.
I've never heard of anyone even firing a gun in my neighbourhood and I've lived here 20 years!

Does that not seem like a more progressive society?

Guns are just sooo susceptible to rash decisions. A simple pull of a trigger can change many, many lives.

We are not cavemen anymore. Gun culture is so 20th century!

The truth is that most Americans aren't primitive about gun culture. Most Americans wouldn't want to possess a gun even if they were offered for free and with free front door delivery of ammunition. Unfortunately, the yahoos who are rabid about guns are loud and politically connected and force the gun issue in Congress and the White House. They claim that the government is trying to take away hunter's weapons, yet they fight bitterly to stop gun control advocates from outlawing the sale of military-style assault weapons without a license, claiming that this would adversely affect hunters and people seeking self protection. When is the last time anyone went deer or rabbit hunting with an Uzi? uzi And when does a person need a military style rifle cannon that shoots to 300 feet to stop an intruder from breaking into one's house? It's guns like this that the NRA fights to make so easily available that allows mentally unstable people or terrorists to get weapons and kill people in these mass shootings. The USA used to be seen as a progressive country, but ever since President Bush took office we have been regressing badly and turning into a banana republic.
