This is my own personal perspective based on what I have seen and what I know.

Used to be a time where people expected quality things...music, people, entertainment, sports ect ect.

Seemed like unless you had an inside track you needed talent of some sort to make it in most things. Even if you had the inside track you still had to have the goods to keep your spot once you got there. Now all I see is a sea of mediocrity and lame attempts....Worse than that I see this mediocrity praised and admired when it's slightly less lame and mediocre than its peers.

In music if you play a few notes on an instrument you are suddenly a musical genius...Shitty acting earns you respect in tinsel town...lame comedy routines by lame comedians makes them more famous and rich than their talent level deserves. All over I see standards lowered seemingly because of the impatience of not wanting to seek higher quality, or quality being too expensive (in both time or money) or acceptance due to mediocre being the norm.

It seems most people I see accept crap. One person's trash is another's treasure right? I heard that a lot...then some must be rich then. I am not overly critical...I just see a large decline across the board of quality things, people, events, entertainment....the list goes on. From the products we use daily...to the people we elect to office...to the schools we send our kids to and especially the education they receive....It seems so much weaker and inferior...I'm not going to say the good old days were always good and everything was so much better then...But I can tell you from what I have seen there was a lot more substance to it than now.

To use an analogy...

"We used to be offered good food...now they shit on a plate and tell us it's great food..and most have not batted an eye and eat till they are full....then come back for more every day."

Has all the modern conveniences weakened us to this point? Young people only know what they see now...what about those of us who have seen greatness and quality of the older days and cringe at what we see now...how do you handle drowning in this muck...Quality is not dead...but it's on the extinction list for sure...Am I the only one who sees it like this?

I feel for you. Yesterday on facebook my brother asked me why I wasn't funny anymore. It's tough to bring the comedy when you're a hermit more concerned with eating and sleeping and whether your slippers need replacing than anything else.
