All Of The Schools Are Closed In My Hometown Today

Because of the very cold temperatures and wind that we are currently experiencing. The thermometer on my car said 11 degrees this morning! Lucky schoolkids. giggle
RIP, mom. I will forever miss and love you.

Crap. I wish Canada was as much of a wuss when it comes to weather. School was hardly ever cancelled when I was a kid. The school had to pretty much blow up and have nothing left but ashes for school to be cancelled.

It is pretty cold out today.

I hate winter.

nod You're right about that. Growing up, I don't think the schools were ever closed due to cold temperatures. Stay warm. wink

It's wicked cold out here. -1F with wind chills of -35.
Schools are still open though. They only close for bad snow storms or really icy roads..

I dunno, once it gets below 10 degrees or so it's just COLD and doesn't make much difference if it gets a little colder.

It was 2 degrees here this morning (with a windchill of about -20 degrees!) and only a handful of school districts were closed!

I totally understand why they keep little ones home when it's this cold.

Remember when we were kids and they not only made us go to school but they FORCED us to go outside in artic weather for recess? We'd huddle together in groups, breathe slowly and try not to die.

NYC is no better. If the schools here blew up, they would've had us go to the nearest park and have classes there neutral

18 is cold for where you live. nod The weather does the same thing here, it can be warmer, and then all of a sudden, the temperature will drop.

We're smack between Lake Erie and Lake Ontario and really get all the lake effect weather. Watertown is worse though. They were closing the schools more often but parents were complaining that it was happening too often.
I wouldn't send a little one out today.

I know what you mean about the lake effect weather. Lake Erie is very close to here as well, and it can really bring on the snow. I wouldn't send my kid(s) out in this either.
