My son graduated last year from college, after attending private school his whole life, and my 4 year old will start private school in the fall. I am a big believer in the private school system. What an experience you are in for Dex. Only 13 kids per class, parents that are involved, and students that are actually there to learn. Congratulations!
I know! During the tour I seen at least TWO teachers in each classroom and sometimes three!! Parental involvement is some shape or form EVERYDAY!! It is going to be a real contrast in what I am used to. I am very excited!! Yes, at my girls school they have one teacher plus a teacher's assistant, with a classs of 13. I think that my favorite part of it all is that kids that are disruptive and cause trouble get a couple of warnings, then removed from the school. So teachers actually have time to teach instead of dealing with the bad seeds all day.

Congrats Dex! My children were both in private (one just graduated last year and now attends a prestigious public exam school!), the other is still in the private system.
It is sooooo different. I am not rich, but their tuition costs like 18K each, and I still sent them. It makes all the difference because they are in an environment that makes them view themselves in a different way. I'm glad they have a sexy chocolate man in their environment. (Ummmmm....I mean a male role model who is of african descent.) Seriously, that is what is missing from the private independent schools--diversity of the staff. Way to go!!! Going to church doesn’t make you a Christian, any more than standing in a garage makes you a car.

She said I would not have to be certified by the state of Georgia as they are a private school and also went on to tell me I should submit my "Letter of Interest" to the Head of School for openings coming up this next fall!!
I am very excited to get back into a classroom and actually helping a child that actually has a "chance" in society!! I am waiting on the background check to clear, but that is no problem...as long as she stays away from the org...LOL Congratulations. Do you have a contract signed, or are you under consideration for Fall openings? The private schools where I live, have just as many problems with drugs, as public schools. There's more disposable income to spend.

She told me there will be three or four full time positions this fall and to submit my "Letter of Interest" as soon as possible. Which I will write this weekend. There's more disposable income to spend. My daughters private school is very strict, that would never be tolerated in any way shape or form, in private use or on campus. Side note, private schools are not only for the wealthy, I am by no means wealthy and have 2 in the system and one more starting in the fall. There are many scholarships and grants available, you just need to search it out, and the school gives us also a good deal because I volunteer over 100 hours of my time to the school each year, I am the Holiday Boutique chair-women, and I work on the board for the annual school auction. Alot on my plate, but it is way worth it.

Subbing will give you the opportunity to test the waters and see how you like it, without a commitment. The "drug issues" are more in the high schools. The age group you're teaching is a little young.
