I don't necessarily mean that you think someone is beneath you (although you can certainly go that route), but rather maybe you went for a type that you might not normally go for because you wanted it bad.

I've mentioned this in a thread here before, but studies have shown that men will rate the same women more and more attractive as an evening wears on. Women they wouldn't have given the time of day at the beginning of the evening, they'll totally take home at the end. They called it "last call" syndrome and percentage of increase was the same between men who had drank alcohol and those who had remained sober. And other than that particular study? I've seen it firsthand many, many times.
