How do you read?

I know this is an odd question but how do you read? I mean in terms of newspapers and books. How do you manage to stay with a huge novel for example and read it quicky, what with life's demands? How do you read a newspaper with all it's suppliments? Have you got any tips on how to stick with it?!

i skip through newspapers for what interests me, same with magazines. i'm usually reading 2-3 books at the same time and i switch between them when the mood strikes, or i'll get preoccupied with one book and read it several times, like i am right now.

NEWS; BBC site and a Reuters-like program, summing up all the telex messages.

BOOKS; I am a skimmer, like PRB, but had a proffesional course in high school; I was always a quick reader, but with the course quick-reading (there's techniques) I can finish books even faster.
If I liked what I read, I go back and re-read word by word.

Ahem, SO same here...

Hehehe. But strangely, I do not want to re-read them.

I love Garth Nix's Keys To The Kingdom series, which is fun.

i'm a huge reader, but i read slowly and thoroughly. i enjoy books too
much to just rush over them. i've done a course in speed-reading but i
fail to see how that would be of good use to a novel.

it's ok for articles and magazines and whatever, but when i sit down to
read a novel i want to absorb it. that's why i've never managed to read
more than 30 pages of a novel per hour. 2 minutes per page, that about
my max reading speed.

so yeah, it takes a lot of time to finish a 700 page book but i just
make that time and compromise on sleep or going out to do it as much
as i do.

Right now I'm much more into non-fiction and I tend to take my time with that if it's interesting. If a novel is just a good story, i'll read it fast but if the use of language is engaging then I'll slow down and just enjoy the movement of the words.
I will read the same book a few times if I really like it.

I routinely in the morning, read the local paper, the Wall Street Journal, and on Sunday, the NY Times. I don't read the want ads.
With books, I read nonfiction and mark pages that have data worth remembering. For obligatory books I speed read. Right now I'm speed reading "Results That Last" by Quint Studer, as my employer used him as a consultant, and bought the program. We're doing so poorly, Quint is making a personal visit to our hospital. Those damn surveys!!! ha.
When I travel, or have a long car ride, I'll bring a book.

I've never one been much for reading. Or anything else that would result in keeping my brain sharp.
