mach took the train so i guess it is feasible. wouldn't you say? i posted a map on that other thread. it shows the routes. i posted the link for via rail there too. i bet if you googled "amtrak" you could find that link. and descriptions of the detroit to toronto train. like how long it takes. and how much it costs. as for the border. yes. when you leave michigan and cross into ontario you are leaving one country and entering another. you would need your passport.

It's actually a very nice trip. I've only taken it by train once, but I drive it all the time. It takes between 2 and a half and 3 hours. I imagine the train would take a bit longer with stops and whatnot. If I remember correctly, I believe it was a 5 hour trek. Of course, I was travelling from Port Huron to Toronto, but it's roughly the same distance and a similar route to the trip you're taking.

It's called Toronto...but, you know...it might be easier for you to get a train from Toronto to Windsor, Canada (which is what I did on my trip and it is just across the river from Detroit) and have your friends drive over the border to pick you up by car. I just looked at the route on the train and it's really out of the way and about a 12 hour trip! http://www.amtrak.com/ser...k/HomePage
