Ok so now I have 6 months til the big day. We have finally figured out the theme and the colors (FINALLY)...I was suprised by my fiance's responses becasue he doesn't like Prince's music at all. My original colors were orange and old gold and may-be cream, I wanted a "Diamonds are a girl's best friend or a Mardi Gras" theme for the wedding. He just blurred out last week what he wanted and I agreed...He said let the theme be "Diamonds and Pearls" let the colors be black and white, while the wedding party walks down the aisle, we can play Diamonds and Pearls, and the kids can throw diamond and pearl like beads into the attendance (the crowd) instead of rose petals. I got really excited because, it's brilliant and I didn't even think that way. I just wanted the song Adore to play at our reception and didn't tell him because of the fear of him saying no but he surprised me. It's all his ideas and when he told me- I cried because, I never really liked the song a lot and when I started to say the words,I was shocked because it's really like him singing it. Everything is falling into place now. All we need is the money LOL! Any other suggestions about incorporating Diamonds and pearls in our wedding? We already collected some beads from Mardi Gras and I already picked out the attire. We also picked out some pearl like candies, and diamond like candies too! Thank you in advance, I'm excited with all my heart!!!! I've found my Prince!!!!!

Well the diamonds and pearls can feature on the invites and the place markings etc - Not real diamonds and pearls of course, cos that would mean selling vital organs to raise the money, but you know imitation diamonds etc.

You can get nice silver balloons and I dunno what colour you'd call pearls other than "pearl" but you can get pearloid coloured balloons too, I imagine...?

And silver could represent the shimmer of diamonds in the colours scheme, so it need not be just black and white - silver will work great as well.


I think the concept is great - don't forget (and I don't know if this is just a UK thing or worldwide) but there is a diamond and a pearl wedding anniversary, so that is another tie-up with the theme.

Oh and with pearls you could incorporate oysters into the theme - oysters = aphrodisiac, underwater theme for the evening party maybe?

Congrats, first of all Second, just make sure the beads that are thrown are lightweight, possibly made of something either very soft & squishy (little foamy things) or very flat (similar to sequins) & reminiscent of diamonds/pearls - not round & hard at all so they won't hurt when they're flung into the crowd (by children who may not know how to do it gently) & won't make women in heels trip & fall once folks get up to leave That was my first thought when I read that, I feared for everyone's safety Anyway, good luck! You know, faux pearls, and faux diamonds will be used because we can't afford the real stuff, especially to give it away! LOL! I just went online and looked up a bunch of stuff. I ran into a clam trinket box, crystal rock candy, chocolate pearl candies, and ideas for my center peices. I found a way to incorporate my orange color-somehow, use orange in the guys lapel flower, and the centerpieces can be with real orange slices for the smell and a color. Instead of the ladies carrying a bouquet, they will have a nice fan to carry. It's coming together and the more that it is, the more excited I get! LOL!
