Regretfulness?

I cant say I generally believe people who say they arent regretful as everyone must regret something. How regretful are you? How do you got about letting things pass you by and moving on? What do you regret and why?

other than my hotel cheese thread I regret not staying at school longer and then going on to probably do a journalism course or teacher training.
It's a mess, ain't it, sheriff?
If it ain't, it'll do till the mess gets here

JD, I am sooooo regretful about so many things.

I'm just now waking up to the realization that I've pissed away 6 or 7 years of my life. The details of which are a bit personal and too painful for me to share here--but lets just say, I regret 90% of that period.

I don't believe folks who say they have no regrets either. I regret so much. And appreciate these memories only as a way to reflect on them for my current actions. I'm piecing myself back together again, and it feels great, all regrets aside.

The small things, I tend to label mistakes. But because they're small, I don't focus on them much so there's really no regret per se. The bigger things... well, I did everything for a reason and I refuse to harbor regrets. It's a pretty useless emotion from where I sit.

I would say I have loads to regret, but I dont now.. no matter what, cos each thing has brought me to where I am and I have lived and learned, maybe the hard way, but I understand why now..

dont regret. Life is for living NOW, not looking back with what ifs

I regret a few things, but on that same note, those things are what I wanted at that time. So it's live and learn, and go from there.

I regret letting a friend go.

We were like sisters. Always together.
U would never see one without the other.

I was going through some crap a couple of years ago and I didnt wanna be bothered by anyone. I stopped talking to all my friends and some family members.
I basically stopped caring about everyone. I hurt her feelings really bad but I didnt care at the moment. When every one came back around, she wouldnt.
So I lost a good friend and I regret that.

I only regret not being good with money. Not knowing every month if I'll be able to afford the next, is not a fun way. If I was better with my money, I'd feel safer now.
Everything else has made me who I am today, when it comes to appreciating life and the things that come in your way. I could regret the things I did in the past, which some were very bad, but then that would've changed the future to come, which from what I see, is the future I dreamed of, and I appreciate it the way I should, thanks to my past experiences.

I let go of regret a long time ago. As Bruce Springsteen said in the very moving introduction to "Spare Parts" on the Tunnel of Love tour:

There comes a time when you've got to take the past and you've got to put it away. Or else the world just...just takes those old dreams and breaks your heart with them day in and day out. This is a song about a woman trying to understand the value of her own individual existence....and the value of the life of her child...trying to throw down those old dreams and find something new and beautiful in her life now...

I do not regret anything that I have done in my life. There are a few regrets about things that I have not done but there is still time.
It's all good!

Why ask the question then mate?

There are many that dont regret things, me included. regret is negative. Yes things have gone wrong but if you use that negative to make things more positive, change you in to a better person there is no need for regret. Regret would indicate that you, on reflection should not have done it, in which case it is on YOU and we all have to live with our choices so suck it up and get on with it. No one to blame but you.

With that in mind what is the point in regretting, just use the experience for positive and move on.

So yes there are people who dont regret, very much so, believe it or not it just comes down to the kind of person you are.

Each to their own and all that.

However i can see that there are some that really SHOULD regret certain things. lol

That wasn't the question. My original post was, 'How regretful are you? How do you got about letting things pass you by and moving on? What do you regret and why?' I just guess some folks can't admit to never being wrong or making mistakes.

regret.....

lets see, where should I start.

I look at regret as a learning process.....
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I may have been "wrong" or have done things that some might consider to be a mistake but I do not regret anything I have done. To me there's a difference.

which was answered. Clearly.

Not at all
I use them in a positive way
Nothing

Is that simpler for you?

I guess some folks regret so much they think everyone should be the same so they dont feel inferior rolleyes

Making a mistake is not the same as regret. Maybe you're a little confused about why some people are responding the way they are?

I think most folks have some level of regret over something...I think what really matters is how they choose to handle that regret...do they wallow in it, learn from it or simply move on without much thought at all...shrug

I have a few regrets, a few things I wish I had done differently...not all those regrets were mistakes, just decisions different from the type of decisions I would make now...but those past decisions are part of the person I am today....

The best thing I read about regrets was found on a poster hanging in a bathroom wall. It was one of those posters with about 1,000 pieces of advice on it. The one that stuck with me was:

You'll regret the things you don't do far more than the things you do.

I believe that to be very, very true.

For the record, here are the things I regret doing (or not doing)

1. Passing on a 1970 3-fender-tag convertible 'Cuda that is now worth 15 times what I could have bought it for
2. Selling stock and not using the proceeds as I planned
3. Wasting too much time
