Whats the longest youve ever had your flight delayed? Man I just got to the east coast and it took me 18 hours to get here! I will never connect out of Chicago O hare again. I was there for 8 hours! On top of that the shuttle service to my hotel stopped running and I had to pay 60 bucks for a damn cab! Whats the longest youve been delayed? 16 hours....
first we were showing delayed for 2 hours, and I was disappointed. So I went and got a bite to eat, came back and we were delayed for 6 hours or something, now I was ticked. So I stretched out and started to snooze on the floor. Then I hear an announcement over the PA for people on my flight to check with customer service. So we do, and they tell us they won't have a pilot for our plane until the next morning, and give us hotel rooms, and like 15 bucks worth of food vouchers. I was not pleased. good thing I built a day buffer in my vacation before going back to work. The thing that pissed me off the most about it, was my sister got delayed by the same airline less than a month later, but only for 2 hours, and they gave everyone on her plane flight vouchers! WTF, I get delayed for 16 hours and get jack squat, they get flight vouchers?!?! Arrgh. [Edited 2/5/08 2:42am] "Knowledge is preferable to ignorance. 4 hours...Ive been lucky.
The longest ive waited for a connecting flight was 9 hours....that was brutal. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

Probably about 12--16 hours. Not technically a delay, but when I flew to London en route to Nice, the travel agent had only allowed me about an hour to get through customs. Needless to say, I missed my connecting flight. The airline put me on the next flight to Nice, but I had to switch from Gatwick to Heathrow (or vice versa, I forget) and didn't get into Nice until late that evening.
Since I was going as a study abroad thing, the program was supposed to have waited for all the American students to arrive and drive us to Cannes (where we were studying) together, but because I was so late arriving, they left me and I had to figure out how to get to Cannes on my own, at 12:30am in the morning, with only 200 francs (at that time about $40), speaking not so great French. I do remember finally getting in a cab and thinking, "What the hell was I thinking--I can't believe I thought I could do this." and "Wow, the cabs here are BMWs!" ps. Next time you're stuck in Chicago, you should just take the train (subway) into the city and sight-see. I did that last time I flew to my parents house--I intentionally scheduled a 5 hour lay-over; had lunch with my friend and visited my former colleagues at the Museum of Contempory Art. Ex-Moderator | 4 hours in Dallas coming home from Miami last year. It was supposed to be a 20 minute layover, my initial flight was 10 minutes late, causing me to miss my connecting flight. Why they scheduled it so close is beyond me. I almost had to wait 8 hours, but I got in on standby on an earlier flight. |

24 hours, coming home from Arizona last year. The plane had a mechanical and there was no other plane for us, so I had to go the next day.
Fortunately, I had been visiting my parents, so I had a place to stay. And I got them to bump me to first class for my trouble. (It pays to be nice, even if you're pissed off.) We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

That happened to me once. The first leg of my flight was over booked so I volunteered to give up my seat (since I was staying at my parents) and they upgraded me to first class on the second leg (from Minneapolis to New York).

12 hours, bad snowstorm. The following year, I was stuck in O'Hare for 5 hours, another bad snowstorm... I stopped flying home for the Holidays after that year.

Two days. I was caught up in that whole Jet Blue fiasco a year ago and spent two consecutive nights in two different airports. Totally sucked.

I think the longest I've ever been delayed was about 6 hours in Philly. Ὅσον ζῇς φαίνου
