I find it increasingly difficult to watch network or even basic cable TV these days because of all the crap that is shown on screen. I'm not necessarily talking about the TV programs themselves (although they do air a lot of crappy programs), but the networks' practices of showing oversized logos indicating the name of the network plus those annoying on screen promos for other shows or creep commercial plugs.

Case in point; just before Christmas, NBC kept running an onscreen bug promoting "Clash of the Choirs" on every TV show up to the premiere, including "It's A Wonderful Life". The other think I've noticed is when I am watching "The Simpsons" or "House" on Fox, and somewhere in the middle of a scene I see a huge promo for "Terminator: The Sara Connor Chronicles" with the huge mechanical red terminator eyes that takes up the whole bottom of the TV screen, blocking out some of the action of the show they are playing. On cable, particularly on TNT, TBS, and USA, they show big giant promos showing what is currently airing followed by either what is coming up next or some other program they are begging people to watch. I get so annoyed by all of this crap! Ironically, the only place where you don't see all of this onscreen crap is the commercials themselves.

I think that the networks have gotten desperate because people are skipping through commercials on their TiVos and DVR's and are trying to find ways to shove crap on us that we can't avoid, but all that it will do is drive people online or to Netflix.

I concur re: network logos.

I hate those logos too, and they´re becoming bigger and more annoying it seems.
The other thing I really hate are stupid phone sex commercials or some long ass commercial show praising some abs machine or anti acne stuff or some cheap ass music anthology CDs. I´d much rather see simple, old school commercials, like original and funny fast food or beverage commercials or whatever, than that other bullshit mentioned above.
Also annoying are those numerous reality shows on MTV and the likes, I really get aggressive when I flip thru channels and see those plastic looking Ken and Barbie lookalikes and their egotistic and superficial behavior in such shows, you know, like MTV Next or Date My Mom or whatever.
