I just watched war of the worlds staring the nut job Tom Cruise and I thought it was fantastic!

The list of unbelievably talented actors, whose personal life interferes with public perceptions is endless....think Marlon Brando,("Last Tango" he was considered over the hill) Marilyn Monroe, (aged in her 30's)etc.
Tom Cruise in "Magnolia" was the end all.

Traggic isnt it.

I haven't seen much of Tom Cruise's recent work (although I'm dying to see 'Lions For Lambs'). But it never ceases to amaze me, the 180 he's done. There was a time he could do no wrong. And quite honestly, he was one of my fave actors. But then I'm in my late 30's and the Cruise I remember is from 'The Outsiders', 'Losin' It', 'All The Right Moves' and 'Risky Business'.

My, how the mighty have fallen...

I hate it when people blur the line of an actor's or singer's work with their personal lives.

Tom's work will stand the test of time... he's a fantastic actor. I always look forward to seeing his movies... couch jumping and all. confused

Unfortunatly, that sort of behavior DOES cause people to frown on the art... it takes a whole not to see the couch episode in your head whilst he is running his lines.

For real....look at musicians. If I listened to music according to the artist's personal life, then I would be missing out on a lot of good music. Someone mentioned The Outsiders, I completely forgot about The Outsiders.....and Legend. Legend was awesome.....Tim Curry's character rocked in that one as well.
