CBS Television Distribution announced Wednesday that "The Montel Williams Show" will cease production after this television season, his 17th on the air. Instead, stations that carried his show will be offered a series of Williams reruns. "Best of Montel" will be 52 weeks worth of "some of the most exciting episodes" from the show's history, the producers said. "I can't say thank you enough to those who've welcomed me into their homes for the past 17 years," Williams said. "It has been both an honor and a joy." | |

I remember when I was younger Montel got in some sexual harassment trouble because he suggested that the women who worked for his show take the week of their periods off and stay at home.
I still don't understand what the issue was, I would love it if that was a rule in my workplace...unless he was saying that they had to take the week off without pay. | |

I've just always thought that if there was a REAL psychic out there, he/she would be running for their lives. i rarely watch television. to be honest, the only time i watched montel williams was for slyvia. but i saw maury once. talk about smut. all the people on that show are stereotypes of their races. i found that show very racist in subconsciousness-way. i think it was something about women finding of who baby's daddy really is. | |

A former Marine and Naval officer, Montel lectured the stunned hosts on the stupidity of spending air time on the death of Heath Ledger, rather than covering the war in Iraq. It was a spectacle rarely seen on live cable television, as Montel exposed and condemned both tabloid "news" shows and much of American culture for what they have each become: shallow and greedy. Three minutes into this awkward segment on Fox, one host cut off Montel in order to go to a commercial. Montel did not return after the break. Four days later, after 17 years as a television host, Montel lost his job. Variety reported on Wednesday that the Fate of "The Montel Williams Show" was sealed when key Fox-owned stations opted not to renew it for the 2008-09 season.
