EMMITT WILL SOON B KING!!! The incomparable Emmitt Smith only needs 93 more yds to
become the NFL's all-time rush yds leader. He became the all-time attempts leader a couple of weeks ago. He is also the all-time rushing TD's champion. Many don't give Emmitt his just-due, always complaining that he's a product of his massive offensive line. Here are things that Emmitt MUST get credit for: 1. Durability- It doesn't just take talent to become the all time leader, if that were the case, Barry Sanders would be the leader. Emmitt has remained injury free his entire career, a testament to his great conditioning. 2. Desire- Being a HUGE Cowboys fan, i've seen Emmitt play an entire second half with a seperated shoulder. That tells you what kind of heart that he has. The Cowboys needed that game to secure a first round bye, and Emmitt put the team on his back. After he gains the record, he'll probably get less playing time, in order to make room for the young and talented Troy Hambrick...so, EMMITT, thanks for all the hours of enjoyment that you brought this Cowboy fan. P.S. I'll be in attendance at Ford Field, in Detroit,in two weeks. Let's hope he doesn't break the record this week. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

He's comparable. Emmitt has remained injury free his entire career, a testament to his great conditioning.
If this is true I want proof!

Ummm...Barry Sanders would of course be the leader if he had pulled an Emmitt and hung on just for the record. Barry never cared about records and he had too much pride to play on losing teams which obviously Emmitt doesn't. Give me Sanders or Payton anyday. BTW Emmitt has remained VRTUALLY injury free his entire career. I remember just last year he missed a bunch of games.

I live in Detroit...do you realize how much
ribbing i had to take when Barry was in his heyday?? I never liked Barry...he refused to come to mini-camps, had no leadership skills, sat out while under contract. He had great skill, but very little of anything else that makes a great team player. Barry had no heart for the game...plenty of talent, but no heart. It didn't surprise me at all that he quit on his team, which is how we took it here in Detroit. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. Brett hasn't done vicodin since 1995 so I think we can probably stop talking about that.

(quarterback) I doubt that he'll be remembered as the greatest quaterbacks to play the game, certainly one of the best though. I think that Dan Marino, John Elway and Steve Young was the best Quarterbacks I have ever seen in my time. _______________________________________________________________________________________ You can hate me for who I am, cuz I won't be something that i'm not.

You jacka$$!!! I suppose you thought John Elway had no heart for the game prior to winning his last two Super Bowls? Or Dan Marino (who didn't win any)? Or Maybe Walter Payton had no heart for the game until the Bears won their first Super Bowl??? Heart is not defined by stats or going for a record in any sport. It's the love of the game, and giving your all on the field while playing (and off the field thru conditioning). He chose to not pursue a record that he could have easily attained before Emmitt, but didn't. SO FUCKIN' WHAT!!! He's still very high up the ladder in the record books, and a hell of a lot more exciting to watch then Emmitt Smith. Oh, didn't Barry also get a co-MVP of the league w/Brett Favre? If you knew more about football, and not just a Cowboy fan, you would've known that. It's no wonder everyone in Detroit gave you a hard time about being a Cowboy fan, cuz you have no respect for the game. I don't like the Cowboys, but I always enjoyed watching Troy and Emmitt play. Cuz they were great players. Records don't make one great. That being said, the only one who cares about Emmitt being 'king' is you... I'd rather be Prince than any day... Emmitt

Emmitt I love Elway, Marino, and Payton. All class acts. Emmitt falls into that category also. Barry, imo, does not. I give him credit for being a freak-of-nature running back, but it takes more to impress me. Barry didn't even have the balls to stand up to management when he retired (quit). He ran everything thru his father and went and hid in Europe. Classless, but, i wouldn't expect anything less from Barry. Emmitt said all along that he wanted to have all the records when he retired. It's always been in his scheme. I respect that. He set his goal, and is about to attain yet another one. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's always been in his scheme. I respect that. He set his goal, and is about to attain yet another one. OK, OK. I dig the fact that you love Emmitt and you're enjoying the fact that he's reaching his goals. But Barry retiring is his way of being cowardly to management because his father acted as spokesman??? I'm not buying your logic into this. Barry didn't feel the need to pursue the record Emmitt is about to break--so why should that make him a punk? We've got athletes who in the last couple of months (1) dragged and ran over a cop, (2) went searching for his wife at his cousin's house with a gun, and yet Barry Sanders is classless?!? I'm not even a big Barry Sanders fan but you've got no business knockin the guy over retiring. Michael Jordan wasn't a punk for retiring, or for hanging out with his dad, was he? Any professional athlete that still keeps in touch w/his family and trusts them to speak for them IS ALL GOOD. Michael Irvin could've taken a few lesson from that in his hey day, but that's another story. You also made the point how Emmitt endured injuries and continued playing. Another admirable trait, but does that mean Troy Aikman had any less heart for retiring due to concussions? Or Steve Young? Or John Elway? It works both ways. But back to the matter of Barry having "no heart" and why I think that's pure BS. He had plenty of heart when he ran for over 200 yards on your Cowboys on Thanksgiving day a few years back during the Cowboys' Super Bowl Runs. As a matter of fact, I don't think the Cowboys were ever able to stop Barry, despite the fact that his offensive line wasn't up to par AND had a mediocore QB in Scot Mitchell. Barry just didn't see the need in continuing to play when there was no chance of him making a championship run and having made more than enough money to be comfortable the rest of his life. He played for 10 years, provided the NFL and its fans w/plenty of excitement, AND HE GAVE IT HIS ALL GAME IN AND GAME OUT NO MATTER WHAT YOU MAY SAY ABOUT HIM!!! Now if we want to talk about a player with no heart, let's talk about Alvin Harper. Remember him? He made several 90+ yard completions against the 49ers when they won consecutive conference title games. After one of them, Harper looked to the Niners bench and said, "You can go home. The Real # 80 is right here (pointing to himself, dissin Jerry Rice)" On the 3rd consecutive conference title game, the Niners beat the Cowboys w/Deion Sanders covering him most of the game. Harper had no impact on the game. After the conclusion, what did Alvin do? Get ready for the next season with the 'Boys so they could whoop on the 49ers?... Alvin Harper signs 4 year 16 million dollar deal with Tampa Bay. The horrible Tampa Bay Bucs before Tony Dungy turned them around. How did good old Alvin do in Tampa Bay? not many catches, and maybe 1 touchdown that first year w/Tampa Bay. He later returned to the Cowboys after a couple of years so he could retire as a Cowboy. Barry Sanders? PLENTY OF HEART...STOP HATIN' Alvin "The Real #80" Harper? His heart got ripped out in S.F. by Deion Sanders and co. I wonder what ol' Alvin thinks about Jerry Rice in the silver-and-black, still tearing up secondaries...while he's at home watching TV? I may not like the Raiders, but The True #80 is playing in Oakland, unlike the so-called real #80... [This message was edited Wed Oct 23 17:32:23 PDT 2002 by DoMeBaby]
