Ex-Moderator | I burned my hand!! OOOOOWWWWW!!!!!
It HURTS!!!!! I was making someone tea at the coffee shop and moved my hand awkwardly and had near boling water spilled all down the back of it. I've been holding ice on it for about 3 hours and if I take it off for even 30 seconds it KILLS!!!!! Any good burn victim advice? |

I'm firmly planted in denial

One little spot looks like it may be starting to, but I've had ice on it, so I'm hoping no. |

It's about 2 1/2 inches wide all across the back of my fingers and hand. |

do you have an aloe plant - cut some pieces off and slice them open and squeeze them bit to make them ooze then place on the burn

If it doesn't blister and is just scalded it will hurt like a bitch because all the nerves are screaming at the assault.
So if it is hurting alot that's actually a good sign that it's a more superficial burn. If it blisters at all, you'll want to have it looked at and really protect against infection. I'm firmly planted in denial

TREATMENT FOR BURNS
Minor Burns Hold burned area under cool running water for 15 minutes. Do NOT apply ointments or butter. Cover the area with dry gauze. Do NOT pop blisters. Consult a doctor if burns occur on the face, hands, genitalia, feet, or for any burn on an infant. Severe Burns Have one person call 911 or the local emergency number while another person runs cool water over the burned area. Do NOT use ice. Do NOT put ointment or grease on the burn and do NOT try to remove pieces of cloth from the burned area. DO NOT break blisters. DO NOT give the victim anything to eat or drink. DO raise the burned limbs to minimize swelling. DO keep the victim from being chilled or overheated.

Not a "you're gonna die" red flag, but burns on the hand are delicate to manage. I'm firmly planted in denial

Seek Medical Help Immediately When:
a second- or third-degree burn. The burned area is large, even if it seems like a minor burn. For any burn that appears to cover more than 10% of the body, call for medical assistance. The burn is on the face, scalp, hands, joint surfaces, or genitals. The burn looks infected (with swelling, pus, increasing redness, or red streaking of the skin near the wound).

Ex-Moderator | I don't want to have to go to the doctor.
I'll stop with the ice and just use a cool towel. We'll see how it looks in the morning. No blisters yet... Thanks, guys. |

Ozonated olive oil!
Like you have some of that on hand. You're doing the right thing with the ice. Hope the pain gets better soon.

wow..sorry carrie...no advice, tho...
but I'm glad it wasn't a friction burn from vigorously running your hand over a pair of vinyl pants...

Try second skin burn pads. they're at the pharmacy.
Also I think silver sulfadiazine is the cream you want. Studies have shown the ass crack of the average Prince fan to be abnormally large. This explains the ease and frequency of their panties bunching up in it. |

If u have Neosporin, try it.Kills the pain.Hope ur better soon.

im sorry you were hurt, carrie.
if the burned area is weepy at all, my suggestion is to first place a non-adherent pad over the wound before covering it with gauze, which will make changing the dressing easier. feel better soon. youre a much better one-handed typist than i!

Ouch! Get some aloe vera cream (or the real thing if you can get a plant) and put it on the burned skin generously once the severe pain is gone.
The last time I got burned was at El Torito on a scalding fajita skillet on my arm. Still a slight scar - boy did it hurt. sorry! VOTE....EARLY

there are special burn creams that should take the sting out of it and help it heal..
i am not sure what brands there are in the US, but Acriflex is a very good cream. i hope your hand gets better. i know that shit hurts.. are you ready for submission

Mighty Leaf green tea. oh, and thanks, all. My hand doesn't hurt this morning unless I touch it. It's really red, though. |
