Jane Fonda--Henry Fonda

Yeah, I know, but Jane Fonda is really famous, an Oscar winner, fitness guru, billionaire's wife, protest queen.

But not the institution in the acting world that Henry was.

didn't henry fonda win at least one oscar? i don't think jane surpassed her father's level of success - i think she may be more recognizable to one generation and he may have been more recognizable to an older generation...same with judy garland and liza minnelli - kids now probably have a vague idea who liza is, but judy's probably more marginal, especially since pop culture these days can't recognize anything earlier than 1983.

yes, many of the people listed here are generational. I remember people saying that Menudo was bigger than the Beatles. In their world, maybe so. smile

But Liv Tyler, Nicole Ritchie, I don't think they are, but it's kind of subjective since you can't compare acting to record sales/grammy nominations.

Jane was famous outside of her acting, that's why I said it, but remember I also said it was debatable wink

now they're talking about the writer's strike being the final nail in the coffin of "24", and meanwhile over at ABC, despite the strike, daddy donald's been getting great buzz for his role on "dirty sexy money". it'll be intersting to see who upstages whom in the next year or two.

falloff Where have you been? lol You could say he's their "fact of life."

Nicole Richie is nowhere near as famous as Lionel was. The same goes with Kate Hudson and Goldie Hawn. That's like saying Anderson Cooper is more famous than Gloria Vanderbilt. disbelief

An indisputable example would be someone like Kobe Bryant.

Kate Hudson is just as famous as Goldie if not moreso.

For a very long time Goldie was famous for being Goldie. Kate is more known for her movies.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

For a very long time Goldie was famous for being Goldie. Kate is more known for her movies.

The bold part is the key. Fame is fame and Goldie was famous for a very long time.

Different times and such....

Kate is on the tabloids...her romance/affairs are regular features.

More people recognize "Goldie" and not Kate Hudson given, but Kate has risen higher than Goldie.

That said...I agree to disagree smile

I know that they were retooling it for the next season and because they simply could not finish 24 episodes they decided to just not do it this year.

IMO, that show was needing a change. Certainly keeping Jack front and center for 6 years didn't help. Also this getting used to new characters every single year was very trying. I know it was "upping the ante" in that anyone might get killed. So every year we would get at least 2 major characters killed off until we didn't care who got it.

yeah, but for 6 years jack has been the show's sacred cow. they try killing him at least a couple times each season...he literally will flatline at least once a season...but we all know he won't die. the ballsiest thing that show could do is off kiefer sutherland once and for all. of course, that's not going to happen. lol

There was 1 or 2. All of the ABC shows held onto a few episodes to strectch through the strike. DSM, I think had 2. DH had the one. I think Pushing Daisies had one thoguh they might aired them all the way through even though other shows were on break. Ugly Betty I think had 3 or 4. They must have had those scripts half done (they weren't that great and involved more activity than dialogue). Brothers and SIsters had a few that slowly aired over the strike.

I think the next time he flatlines they should have him travel back to the set of Flatliners. Hey Julia could guest star! WHat they ought to have done at least once is have him flatline as a Season Finale. Beep Beep Beeeeep!
