Human viewpoints Can anyone answer me a question?
We live in an age when we are all encouraged to treat each other as people. Not whites or blacks or anything else for that matter. So please tell me why is it still an issue? I agree that the past has a huge effect on our society now, however if we ALL want freedom from whatever may have opressed us in the past why do we not ALL start with a blank sheet? Allow me to illustrate. If you met me you SHOULD have no pre-concieved ideas of what i am like or what my views are but I am willing to wager that many of the people that are crying out for equality (be they of any ethnic background) would have pre-conceptions before getting to understand me. So if we are all so liberated and understanding why does it still happen? I think it's well messed up!

I think it's gonna be a long time before it's not an issue anymore. Many generations will have 2 pass before it's all washed out.
I sometimes have pre-concieved ideas about what a person may be like but it has nothing 2 do with their color. It has 2 do with their overall person, their overall expression and how they carry themselves. But I almost always give people a 1st chance. I try 2 be more open than I already am.

In this age, as you put it, there are laws on the books that force employers, schools, and agencies to meet racial quotas, thus keeping it on everyone's mind that race matters. So there's no clean slate. Fear is the mind-killer.
