Ever see a sundog? 
I never even heard of them, but saw this in the sky today 
(From Wikipedia) "Sundogs typically, but not exclusively, appear when the sun is low, e.g. at sunrise and sunset, and the atmosphere is filled with ice crystals forming cirrus clouds, but diamond dust and ice fog can also produce them. They are often bright white patches of light looking much like the sun or a comet and, occasionally are confused with those phenomena. Sometimes they exhibit a spectrum of colours, ranging from red closest to the sun to a pale bluish tail stretching away from the sun.[1] White sundogs are caused by light reflected off of atmospheric ice crystals, while colored sundogs are caused by light refracted through them." | |

i dont know about sundogs- but this is pretty cool

that's really neat! never seen anything that looked like that before!
but when we get sundogs here (primarily in winter) you know it's a friggin cold day. you see the sun and equidistant on either side of the sun will be two bright spots. just like wiki said, sometimes they will just be white and other times they will have yellow rays gleaming off from the side.  i will have to try to remember to take
a picture of one next time i see one.   She couldn't stop crying 'cause she knew he was gone to stay | |

I am just jealous of how clear and warm in looks in that picture. I want to enjoy a clear warm day again..me in my shorts, short sleeve shirt, flip flops, warm sun on my body.....I am fed up of being cold!

a picture of one next time i see one. yeah I think sundogs are the bright spots either side of the sun when there is a ring around the sun, this one is more a rainbow cloud, but they come under the same category of phenomena - when the the sun reflects through or off ice crystals. It was a really HOT day here! | |
