The Relationship of the Artist and The Art (Heath Ledger & Britney Spears related) I've been following a lot of the news about Heath Ledger's tragic death. As someone who has been waiting for the movie, The Dark Knight, since 2005, I was really caught off guard when I heard about it.
Once the shock of his death wore off, I realized something, that I'd love to discuss and get into. When I first saw the previews for The Dark Knight, I saw, Ledger's take on The Joker and said to myself, "Wow! This Joker is scary and creepy. He did this right. I want to punch this character and he is creepy. Way to go!" Then I heard on the news about his death, and the shock wore off. I watched the same preview and my thoughts changed...they changed to thoughts of how tortured this guy musta been. I felt sorry for The Joker. It totally changed the dynamics of the movie for me. This isn't just limited to film. The same is probably true with Britney Spears. When her hit "Gimme More" dropped last year, people were dancing to it. However, after all her antics, I heard some people voice views like, "I can't listen to this song and album, Blackout, cus I find myself wondering what the hell her state of mind is and how messed up she is right now." It makes me sad to think that there is such a strong relationship between the artist and the art. However, I suppose without one you wouldn't have the other. Good points, but can you really call UnFitney Spears an artist? I don't see any talent.

I just don't get how Heath Ledger stayed mentally disturbed after filming had wrapped. Something doesn't ring totally true there.
I think observers of art can understand how an artist feels when they recorded some music or painted something by the feeling it conveys. Sometimes it is merely its intensity (Brian Wilson's Pet Sounds), or its actual mood (Prince's Black Album).
