Who or what inspired your parents to call you what your name is? I was named after my Grandad (Dad's Dad). smile

You?

I was named after my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

And some addition, my brother is named after my father, John.

So when someone yelled for John or Carmen, we all shouted back "which one!"

While my mother was in labor, she was watching (or at least trying to)" I dream of Jeannie".

That is where I got my name from.

If she wasnt watching tv at the time, I would have ended up with Roxanne.

Go figure.....
Say it's just a dream...
U open up ur eyes and come 2 realize
u simply imagined this
So u lean over and give her a kiss
Here on earth, here on earth,
with u it's not so bad
Here on earth, here on earth
eye don't feel so sad
Stay right here

I was going to be "Laura," after my paternal great-grandmother. But my cousin was born first, so that took care of that. (Thank goodness. I mean, Laura is a pretty name - but I'm so not a Laura.)

After that, it was a rhythm thing for my mom. I (and my three sisters) all have three-syllable first names ending in 'A' and one-syllable middle names.
We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

I have no idea. My mom wanted to name me "Buddy" but thankfully my Dad talked her into "Greg".

Buddy is a dog's name. Greg is much better.

Jump Greg, jump.

Now bring the stick! smile

My dad spent too much time in Japan, he fell in love with name combinations, and meanings. Funny though it's somehow is related to the Cherokee. Not sure if that was part of it too. shrug

My older sister got to pick my name (first name). My parents wanted her to feel included and excited about having a baby brother or sister.

She picked "Diana" which was the name of her best friend that lived next door.

After I was born, she regressed a bit...couldn't say "Diana" and started calling me "Dee-Dee"
