Money....or....Time....??

I have a nice job with plenty of inside perks AND I only work four days a week!

BUT!!

I am not utilizing much of my work experience or my college degree at this particular gig. I feel like a trained animal some days actually.

I am on the fence about finding another job, but THREE DAYS OFF SPEAKS VOLUMES TO ME!!

Yet....I know my talents are being wasted here....

WHAT TO DO??

What is more important to you.....your money or your time?

Go into business for yourself...that way you can create your own time AND money. nod

But to answer your question, time is infinitely more important than money. Doesn't necessarily mean I would take the job that gave me more time off, because the time spent working needs to be maximized to its fullest value to me as well, both financially and spiritually. Working 3 days a week at a job that's soul destroying would be a worse use of my valuable time than working 6 days a week at a job that fulfills me.

Damn, hard question. I'm still trying to get the best of both worlds - doing something I enjoy while having a 2-3 month stretch of vacation each year. So far I'm getting the time off, but not exactly loving what I'm doing though it pays well.

But if I just HAD to choose now I guess I'd take the $ & build for the future, hoping I'd get the time factor worked out later shrug

The other important element really is clout (the perks, or the perception of), and it seems that I always get two out of three, but never all 3 at the same time. lol

in the long run it turned out to be time that was more important to me. I've had jobs and positions that a trained seal could do... I hated it, if I'm not being challenged in some way then I or it won't last.

I dont about money or time being an issue, but feeling like a trained monkey is. Being in a job where u feel like ure talents are bing wasted can be fairly sould destroying. Regaurdless of money or time u need to be in a job that makes u happy and that u enjoy, otherwise it can be a blow to ure self esteem.....not to mention ure ego lol

Since I've been both very comfortable and super broke and survived on both I would have to say that time is really more important.

I'm a Teacher.....

I'm still working with troubled youth/teens here in Atlanta. It has its minimal rewards but I want to impact kids that actually have a chance in life. Working with children who are wards of the State shows the systems ugly side and it sickens me seeing them being setup for failure!

Yet I have made an impact on a few of their worlds teaching them how to read and exposing them to the REAL WORLD and enhancing Life Skills. It just saddens my heart knowing they are just dangling above a dark abyss which is the system

It has great perks in the way of creativity, sponsorship, field trips, but they are still in a system built on keeping them IN IT! AND THAT SUCKS BIG TIME!!

I just don't feel I am utilizing my degree, experience or mind all that much. I took this job knowing I'd be moving on, but three days off with decent pay is not bad....??

Knowing how I feel about the world and its doings....I know I have to leave this gig and make more of an impact than the system impacting me. Working with hopeless souls is not fun at all, but I do what I can!

I'm sure you're making a bigger impact on some lives than you might realize. Maybe some of those hopeless souls would be completely lost without you. It takes a big heart to do what you do.
And yes, three days off with decent pay rocks. headbang
