indie video stores usually have rotten customer service, especially if they specialize in really rare movies. it's because most of the people who work there are film students who care more about debating cassavettes with their co-workers than being nice to customers (plus being nice is above their pay range!). i used to work at an art film video store in NYC years ago and one of the local papers voted us "meanest video clerks in manhattan".

If they had an award for Bitterest Clerk, "indie" video, record and book store employees would take home the hardware every year.

Little did I know they take them and put them behind the back counter in the front of the room for you to pick up.
