blogging

Who else is blogging on this site? After my poetry-reading last Saturday, I realized the need of a real blog. I'm blogging on Myspace from now and then, but those blogs are too hard to find...

I created this one yesterday: http://huiverinkt.blogspot.com. It's in Dutch, so most of you can't do anything with it, but if you have a decent blog that you're willing to share, please post the url here.

Are there any Dutch writers on there? Would be easy if you could search on 'language'.

Not sure, but everyone is really encouraging and great at reviewing your work and at the same time respecting what you've written.

I really think I'm going to expose myself here as completely ignoreant here....

What is blogging? lol I mean I know people write in them but is the purpose of it like being a diary? A way to tell others what is happening in your life? I really don't understand the concept of blogging and I'm really embarrassed to admit that lol

yep, that's it exactly and it's shocking/a bit surprising what some people put out there for people to read. I think they forget that everyone can read their blog many times...mine is by invite only.

OK.....if I started a blog and only put on there some of the things I've written that are part of my healing, but don't really write every day, does that count as fulfilling the purpose of the blog?

sure, it's whatever you want it to be. A lot of people’s blogs help people in some way or another, which is always good. It's just that there are some things I've read in peoples blogs that (I think) is rather personal but that's just me and in this age of let the world into your life...everything goes. There doesn't seem to be anything left under the it's nobody's business heading anymore... I don't know maybe I'm too old school.

The definition of 'blog' is really blurry. Let's say it's just personal writing on the internet, on whatever basis. That might be journalism, poetry, every day-feelings etc.

I'm using 'notes' in facebook to let out some more regular stuff. Those things that tend to be rather 'poetic' will be shown on my blog.

My reason for blogging is that it makes me write some more, and after every reading I do (like this weekend) people come to me to ask where they can read my stuff. It's too early to look for a publisher though, so a blog comes in handy here.

oh, absolutely...which is why I say it's whatever you want it to be. I've read blogs covering everything from A to Z to triple digits. I love poetry and short stories, your blog has been added to my favorites list.

Its about your own personal healing and path.

On the flip side, too many people have kept secrets and held in their pain with no way to release it. shrug

As someone that has a background in writing and in counseling, its therapeutic for me and it seems for some of the readers. I'm more interested in the one person that is helped than the hundreds that may find it too personal or no ones business. No diss to your personal stance. I'm just saying.

There are also professional blogs, political blogs, group blogs etc. The latter have really influnced the political discourse in recnt years. Hell they are the political discourse, though I hate reading most of those political blogs. They're pretty much left/right yelling and screaming etc. But thr are some good ones too.

Here's some that I like to read from time to time (mainly academic):

http://www.3quarksdaily.com/

http://itre.cis.upenn.edu...nguagelog/

http://noggs.typepad.com/...index.html

http://creativemapping.blogspot.com/

http://www.digitalurban.blogspot.com/

http://www.therestisnoise.com/

http://cookylamoo.com/boringlikeadrill/

And this one that JasmineFire told me about just the other day (though it seems to not have been updated in a while...)

I understand that completely and it is therapeutic for many, many people on their respective paths to their own personal healing. For me, it's that there's so much now that's no longer taboo in the name of being open, honest and healing, everything now is played out in public or on a public stage. So much so to the point where it's literally everywhere and with some of the blogs I've read, if I came across these people on the street I could tell them almost everything about their lives, what problems they're having, who there kids are, what they did here, there and so on. They wouldn't know who the hell I was and that's the part of it that I'm talking about, I think people forget just how much they've opened not only their lives but those people that they write about to the world. But like I said that's just me and I didn't take it as a diss, it's all good.
